Once upon a time,
In the Spencer, Iowa library
There was a crime
That was quite arbitrary.
A cat was left in the snow
And found by a dedicated librarian.
How he got there, she didn't know,
But at least he didn't turn into carrion.
She fed this cat,
And gave him a couple of looks,
She decided to give a name that would fit like a hat,
Dewey Readmore Books.
This cat became quite famous,
People coming from all over to see,
Some bright and some ignoramus,
To look where the cat could be.
He lived a long life to be known to that,
Dewey Readmore Books, the Library Cat.
