"Geez Clint, you scared me!"

You saw him on the corner of the ledge.

"Yeah, sorry Livy, I come here sometimes to get away from people"

"I thought no one else knew about this but me" you looked at Clint.

He just shrugged and smiled. You chatted with Clint for a while, and he decided he would make his way back to the party. He patted your head as he got up to leave.

You were left alone in the cool night air, but you didn't mind it as there was a vent that you sat under that warmed you. You were too busy thinking about Bucky's behaviour over the past week and why he was acting the way he was when you noticed Steve and Bucky walk out on the patio.

You knew it was rude to eavesdrop, but you were there anyways, and they didn't see you, so you leaned down a little to catch what they were saying.

"I'm just saying man, you should ask her out then if you really want to. I can help you plan an amazing date." Steve was saying to Bucky.

"She's a really nice girl and the two of you would really hit it off that way." He patted his friend on the back.

"Yeah, I want to, but I am not sure how she will feel about it, me asking someone else out that's not her" Bucky told Steve.

"I should go and tell her I don't want to see her that way" Bucky said.

Your eyes were big, and your mouth was slightly open while you were taking in the scene below you.

"You should get out there and date Bucky, take her out and show her how much fun you can be" Steve said while walking to a railing and leaning against it.

You quickly leaned back into the dark in case Steve would see you from the corner of his eye.

"I guess I could ask her out after I take that tour of the headquarters building you said was coming up"

"I for one think it's a great idea. She really likes you." Steve smiled.

"I only wish I would have had the chance to ask her out myself before you came along. She's a great gal and I really think it'll be good for you to get away from the compound for a night." Steve added with a smile.

"She was just being nice to me Steve"

"I know Buck, so you have to tell her how you feel"

They walked back into the party and you wanted to puke.

They were obviously talking about Lea and that made your heart rip into a thousand pieces. What had happened between you and Bucky over the last few months was different. You thought you were starting something special between the two of you only to have Bucky back out of his feelings. You felt used and betrayed as tears and anger started forming on your face. You quickly brushed them away and got down from your ledge. You were determined to head back to your room unnoticed so you could get out of your dress and into your bed.

You saw Nat chatting with a group of agents and gave her the 'I'm going up to bed' signal and she nodded her head. You looked over at the bar and saw Lea and Bucky talking with each other, her body leaning in close to his, which made your stomach lurch up into your throat. You started feeling sweaty and there was immense heat from within your skin, and your heart felt like it was literally ripping into a million little pieces.

"Hey Liv, what's wrong?" Steve asked as he was following you.

"Nothing Steve, I don't feel well, so I am heading up to bed" you turned to the elevator.

"Ok Liv, text me if you don't feel any better and I'll get Bruce to take a quick look at you" Steve called as you boarded the elevator.

You just waved at him not turning around. Thankfully he was clueless in dealing with females you thought to yourself as you headed up to your floor.

When you got to your room, you stripped off your 40's attire and headed for a cold shower. You felt nauseous and slightly dizzy from what you not only witnessed but heard. I guess you and Bucky never talked about your relationship with each other. You never really had 'the talk' of being an exclusive couple or even a boyfriend and girlfriend. You just assumed what you were doing with each other over the last few weeks would eventually lead to something more permanent and things would just fall into place, but you were wrong.

When your shower ended, you pulled on a pair of leggings and a tank top and jumped into bed. You purposefully locked your bedroom door because you didn't want to deal with anyone, especially not Bucky. You turned your phone off as well because you didn't want the onslaught of messages or calls as well.

You settled into your bed and began to softly cry yourself to sleep. About an hour later, you could have sworn you heard someone quietly knocking on your door, but you didn't get up to investigate as you didn't have the energy.
