They tried to block me but I shoved their blades off the door frame, allowing myself in.

Walking up to Talia's desk as she ate her food. I slammed the book down on the table, grabbing her attention quickly.

Holding in one hand, her fork, "I'm trying to eat."

"Explain that." I pointed, slightly out of breath. She stares at the book for a moment, then back up at me.

"Yes, the stories of the Leagues early time in Gotham." She acknowledged. "Yeah. And in there, it talks about the destruction of the city. How you slaughtered millions of people. 'Protecting Gotham' was clearly a lie. And everyone is living up to it."

Talia sets her fork dcown, getting out of her chair and walking to face me. "That book was made years ago. Translated hundreds of times. Those books could be fiction by now." She scoffed.

She got closer, whispering, "And coming in here to yell at me... have you forgotten your place?" She snarled.

"Maybe... or maybe I don't want to serve as another one of your brainwashed assassin's." My hand readying on the handle of my sword.

"Don't do this.." She request with a playful tone.

Kill her...

She's asking for it.

No mercy.

You're better than her.

"Too late."

I lashed out my sword, going toe-to-toe with Talia. Our metal swords, clashing and clinking.

Her strength kept me on my toes, with every hit I blocked, I thought this would be my last. But I wasn't going to stop my attack. If Talia wanted a real fight, I'd give it to her.

Assassins, heed by her side, starting to come for me as well.

"Gaining up on me, that's not fair." I joked.
Using her desk as a formidable object, hopefully slowing the assassins down.

"A fight will never be equal. Your opponent will never make things easy." Talia shouted, we met again, in our duel.

Using one hand to hold her sword, she used her other arm to elbow me in the face. Immediately, feeling a sting on my cheekbone.

I readied myself to get back up, but was met with a foot to my back. Talia slammed me down. I looked over to see my sword out of reach for me.

With her leg still on me, she bent down, her breath practically on my ear, "Never go against me again. Next time, you won't be so fortunate. If you've read those books, you know what I'm capable of."

She gets off of me, pulling me to my feet.
"But... you are an assassin. We don't deliberately hurt our own..." An assassin hands me my sword.

As I stared at them, Talia and the assassins. I realized, I was fighting for nothing. They would beat me... always.

Maybe one day would come where I win, but no fight is fair...

No fight is clean.

"Why would you want to destroy Gotham?" The question escape from my mouth.

"Why? Taylor... What has Gotham ever done for you? Your mother, murdered. Brother, jail. You've been bullied and beatened." She pauses, stepping closer to me. Feeling her hand, resting on my arm.

"Forced to do the dirty work for a mask vigilante..." She finished.

Even with all this, I couldn't help but feel betrayed.
