"So you're saying he just jumped off?", Venator asked as he looks down from atop the rooftop of the shopping center.
"How many times do I need to explain this?"
"It's just... how could you let him escape like that?"
"Escape? We're forty stories up, no one can survive that!"
"You don't know what he can survive.", Venator steps towards him, becoming increasingly angry.
"The kid just makes knives, he can't fly.", another Ghost replies.
"Clarkson's right, I think"
"Look, idiots, if he's dead then where's his body?"
"Don't get so aggressive, are you sure this is even the kid you're looking for?"
"Show me the knife again."
"Clarkson show him the knife again."
The one they call Clarkson takes out the bloodstained knife from his pockets. It's wrapped in an old towel. He unwraps it. Venator takes out his knife, the one the boy stabbed him with. He seems to compare the two knives. He grabs the knife from Clarkson's hand in order to get a closer look.
"It's definitely made from the same material."
"Wait a minute, that knife you have there doesn't look too similar to the one we have.", Clarkson speaks up.
"The design is getting more intricate, but it's definitely from the same person."
"Their designs are becoming more intricate? Why would that be happening?"
"He's growing in power, and growing in skill."
"That can't be good."
"Which is why we need to catch him."
Their leader shakes his head.
Venator looks confused and concerned, "No- no, don't me-"
"I've already given the termination order to our captain, the boy is kill on sight, if he is alive."
Venator slowly shakes his head, "This isn't what high command wants, not yet."
"Stuttberg is a commercial district, we have to put civilian lives first."
"No, you can't do this! This is my case!"
"Yes, but this is our district."
"If that kid dies I'll be to blame."
"That's your problem, not ours."
Venator angrily storms out of the shopping centre. He stands by the entrance, waiting for something. After a few moments his drone arrives, he had received a new one. Venator looks up at the drone and gives it a verbal command.
"Find me evidence that the boy was here. We're not leaving until you find something, anything, a strand of hair will do."
The drone zips around the outside of the building it's not long before he finds something. The drone hovers at the eighteenth-floor window, beeping and signalling with flashing lights. Venator takes out a pair of binoculars to see what it found. Venator is able to see a very large blood stain on the window. What's more interesting is that there's a rope next to it. He follows the rope up to a twentieth-story window, a knife is embedded into it.
Venator has a clear picture of what happened here. This was the boy's master plan? Could he have even survived this? He would have bounced off the window like a bird. Venator uses his mind to calculate where he would have landed. He finds the spot; he finds small puddles of dried blood. He then finds more pools of blood; it creates a trail.
