[Sunghoon]
Sunghoon can already tell that the dinner will be awkward.
He and Jungwon arrive and the whole table immediately falls silent. What he thought would be a family dinner is actually a royal dinner, meaning royalties are actually present. He thought it'll only be his mother, Jungwon's father, Ni-ki, and Sunoo. But no, even Jake, Jay, and Heeseung are present, including their respective families.
The trio gives him subtle nods but otherwise stays quiet. Sunghoon surreptitiously nods back and then squeezes Jungwon's hand before they make their way to their seats.
And speaking of Jungwon, he has gone stoic and expressionless, completely devoid of any emotion. He looks like the embodiment of his titles, The Cold Prince and the Heartless Bastard. He looks intimidating.
Sunghoon glances at the Eastern King and sees the proud smirk he's wearing. Sunghoon frowns. He's most likely the reason why his son is like this.
Straightening his shoulders, he releases Jungwon's hand and pulls out the younger's seat before a servant can do so. Jungwon gives him an unimpressed look and pulls out Sunghoon's seat as well before sitting down himself. Sunghoon resists the urge to roll his eyes and squeezes the younger's nape instead. He takes a seat and finds everybody's eyes on them.
This will be a long evening.
---
The dinner is in full swing, the guests talking and discussing amongst themselves with regards to the upcoming wedding. Jungwon is quiet beside him. Sunoo has tried to engage him in a conversation but Jungwon closes off and his brother understood immediately. Jay then starts shooting questions to Sunoo and soon thereafter, the latter has started talking and laughing with them.
Sunghoon himself is discussing upcoming events with some of the Royal Subjects but he soon finds himself bored with the topic and the attention. He glances to the Continental Queen and finds her looking at him, one brow raised elegantly as if already sensing his plan to exit the dinner. His mother gives him a warning look before focusing her attention back to her husband-to-be. Sunghoon rolls his eyes before facing front again.
He catches sight of a lady with an incredibly plunging neckline, probably a family member of one of the Royal Subjects, eyeing Jungwon with a shy smile on her lips and Sunghoon slides his hand onto the younger's thigh. Jungwon starts at the action and turns to him, stoic expression melting into poorly-masked curiosity.
Sunghoon feels the conversations around them quiet down, as if everybody's attention is suddenly on them. He and Jungwon hasn't interacted all throughout dinner so they must've really been waiting.
"You're quiet," Sunghoon says in an intended low voice, just for the two of them. His eyes flicker to the younger's lips and smirks at the memory of kissing them earlier.
"I'm bored," is Jungwon's answer, his voice flat. Sunghoon raises his hand from Jungwon's thigh to tuck a piece of the younger's hair behind his ear. Ni-ki coughs in the background.
"Dessert will be served soon, and then it's over."
Jungwon sighs heavily at that. Sunghoon starts playing on the earring dangling from the younger's ear.
"Not a fan of sweets, I take," he comments. Jungwon merely shrugs. "Do you want to take a breather? There's a balcony."
Jungwon meets his eyes, suddenly alight with interest. Sunghoon gives him a lopsided grin before retracting his hand from the younger. He crooks his finger to one of the servants standing on the sides and the servant immediately responds, walking towards him.
