Davi's POV:
Oh, my Goddess. It's time for the 'adoption' or as I call it: the Reaping. Mostly to reference my favorite book. To be honest it is really similar, the process that is. You get chosen at will and you have a 4.1% chance of surviving. It is a very slim chance. There is a chance of you getting sent back here. The last time that happened it didn't go so well. I remember my best friend being beaten to the point that it was too late to save her. I miss Shelby. She was the only one who made me happy in the prison. At least I get some peace if I get chosen. Death doesn't even seem so bad compared to what happened last night. I was lucky to get a shower after what Marcus did to me. I still have cuts on my back from the whip and black handprints now lie on my hips and thighs. Markus walks in here.
"Alright, you sluts, it's time to choose the next victim." We line up at his tone, "Come in your Highness. All of our... premium slaves are in here." He said with a smirk as we all backed up a bit. And to our surprise, it was the Darkner King. King Damian Holt. He has black hair like a raven and piercing blue eyes. He is wearing a leather jacket white T-shirt and was around 6'6. "I see." That is all he says as he scans the girls. His eyes eventually landed on me. I backed away a bit more because of his gaze.
"I choose this one." He says pointing to me. "What? Are you sure? She has the most injuries and she is the least trained. I'm sure this o-" He cuts him off. "Ten grand. Take it or lose it." The King holds out a case of cash. The leader nods. He then grabs my hand and drags me to the King. "Her name is Davi Rayne. Daughter of a poor woman who couldn't keep her." He says. "Yes, I see. Come. We are leaving." He gives the cash to him and leads me out the door. After the door is shut he picks me up. "It's just cruel what they do. Making an injured kid walk like that." He scoffs. "From now on you will be prepared to be my friend's new daughter, but first we must get you healed up." I nod silently but my look soon turns to horror at his next words. "Let's get you to the hospital." I squirm but he is too strong. "Hey hey, it's ok. It's a different hospital. Don't worry." I nod in fear of what he can do. He puts me in the backseat and buckles me in. We drive for hours and I slowly close my eyes and eventually fall asleep in a restless state.
. . . . . . .
"Davi." I hear "Davi wake up!" I groan and open my eyes slowly before jumping up, not recognizing where I am. "Woah. It's ok, you're not in that horrid place anymore." I look up with a small smile and I whisper. "Thank you, sir," and bow my head. "No need for thanks. You deserve freedom. Now we are at the hospital so please don't freak out." I look at him with fear in my eyes, yet I nod nonetheless. He picks me up and takes me into the Hospital. I look around and shiver at the horrible memories associated with this place... or at least the reason I was here. As the nurse saw me she yelled. "Code RH stat." and three other nurses took me to the urgent care part of the hospital. "The doctor will be with you shortly but let's look at these wounds." I look at the nurse wearily then back at the King. "It's ok Davi. If they hurt you. I'll hurt them." I nod and whisper to the nurse, "What do you want me to do?" She gives a soft smile. "I need you to take off your shirt. So I can look at what's bleeding. Or was bleeding." I nod and Damien puts me on the bed. I take off my shirt gently and face away causing gasps from the nurse. "Oh dear. You'll need stitches for most of those. At least the smaller ones are scabbed over. Donna give me the numbing agent and antiseptic. Along with the needle and thread." The assistant nods and leaves only to come back in with a tray of equipment. I turn around and hear. "Ok dearie, I am going to put the antiseptic and the numbing agent on. You'll feel a light burn and then nothing as I stitch you up." I nod and take a breath only to cry out at the burning sensation on my back. "It's ok dearie. Just a few more and we're on to the painless part." She says.
Three hours later we are out of the hospital. They gave me fluids and food along with a prescription for some vitamins. Damien puts me in the back seat once more before closing the door and walking to the driver's side and gets in. I feel sleepy since the food filled me up. "Take a nap. It's another hour to my house.” I nod and I yawn before closing my eyes in a more peaceful slumber.
