Christmas at the Potter's

You always loved Christmas from when you were young. Especially when you were in Hogwarts. Waking up in the dorm, with Harry's arms wrapped around you, opening the presents you received, going out in the snow for hours with; Ron, Harry, Hermione, Fred, George, and Ginny. 

Have Christmas dinner with the few people who stayed at Hogwarts in the Great Hall, sneaking hot chocolate up to the common room, everyone sitting around the fire in the common room with you and Harry cuddling, everyone just talking and laughing till the early hours of the morning, only going to bed when Professor McGonagall would come down and kindly - because it was Christmas - to go to bed. You would fall asleep to the soft sound of Harry humming songs to you and wrapped in his warm arms.  

Years after Hogwarts, you and Harry have two children and you are pregnant with your third.

Christmas was definitely your favourite time of year. So when you had kids with Harry, you were so excited to start Christmas traditions with your family. 

One tradition was to decorate your house on the first day of December. 

"I love Christmas too, but do he have to decorate tonight", Harry complained, "yes you know we've done this since we had Lyla", you said firmly not letting the tradition stop, "but I won't be home from work till late and I'll be tired, could we not do it tomorrow instead", "no, trust me it'll be fun", you said, "you complain every year and then end up having so much fun, so yes we are doing it tonight". "Okay fine well do it tonight", he gave in, "I've got to get to work see you later love", Harry said and kissed you before he left, you smiled triumphantly. 

Lyla and James were four and two, so Lyla was starting to understand what Christmas is so she was very excited. 

You decided that you and the kids would back some chocolate chip cookies to pass the time and because you were really craving cookies. "Hey, Lyla, James", you said walking into the living room where they were playing together with their toys, they looked up, "how would you two like to bake some cookies?", you asked, Lyla's face lit up, "yes please", she said, you smiled and she stood up and ran over to you, "how about you James?", you asked looking over at James, he nodded with a huge smile, "okay come on let's go". 

After baking the cookies, you and the kids sat and watched a Christmas movie while eating cookies with milk. Once the movie was over it was almost dinner time and Harry would be home soon, "I'm going to go start dinner, do I have any helpers?", you asked and the kids nodded and came back through to the kitchen with you. You made Chicken Noddle Soup. When you were putting it into bowls you heard the front door open, "Hey love, it's me", Harry yelled from the hall, the kids got excited and ran out to see Harry. 

You put the soup on the table and Harry came in with Lyla on his shoulder and James in his arms, you laughed at the sight of them all, you truly loved this family of yours, "Hey Harry, how was work?", you asked, "not bad, quite boring to be honest", he said and stepped forward and kissed you, "how was your day?", Harry asked, "James and I make cookies with mummy", Lyla said from on top of Harry's shoulders, "did you now, are there any left or have use ate them all?", Harry chuckled, "yes there's some left, but dinner first", you said, "umm... help", Harry said finding it difficult to find a way to put Lyla and James down with only one hand free, you laughed and went over and took James from him and put him in the high chair, Harry put Lyla down and she went to the chair and sat down. 

"and how is this little one doing?", Harry asked putting a hand on your slowly growing stomach, "good, kicked mummy quite a lot today", you sighed, "are you okay", he asked in a slight whisper rubbing your arm, you nodded, "yeah I don't mind kicking it reassures me that the babies okay", you said, Harry nodded, he bent down "hey there little one, we all love you", he said to your stomach, you laughed, "hey stop being so hard on your mummy too, please", he whispered you didn't really hear him, he kissed your stomach, then stood back up straight and kissed you again, then you both sat down and ate. 

After dinner and everything was cleared away. "Okay let's decorate", you said excitedly. You went to the attic and used magic to bring the tree down the stairs, while Harry brought down all the decorations. Harry helps you put the lights on and then we all put bobbles and tinsel, Harry would lift James up so he could reach the branches. 

After the decorations were on the tree you turned on the switch and the lights came on, everyone stared in awe, "come here Lyla", Harry said, "do you think you can put the star on the tree?", he asked, she nodded, you picked James so he could get a better view, you held him on your hip, Harry lifted Lyla onto his shoulder, she put the star at the top, Harry stepped back with Lyla still on his shoulders, he stood next to you, and wrapped his arm around your waist, "you were right, I do enjoy this", Harry whispered with a big smile, "I knew it", you said with a smirk, Harry kissed you forehead and then looked back at the tree. You looked at Harry, and all the memories of the times at Hogwarts came rushing back. When you both would go for walks around the black lake for hours. When you both would sneak into the kitchens late at night see Dobby and bake together, and when you both would get excited when it started raining outside and no matter where you both were you would meet and then go dancing in the rain. You didn't know you had so much love to have towards someone, but it was definitely a lot.

As it was late after decorating, you and Harry gave the kids a bath, told them a story about when back at Hogwarts in your first year, when Hagrid got a dragon, and you, Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to get the dragon up to the tower for Rons' brother Charlie without being caught. After telling the story, you and Harry tucked the kids in and kissed them on the forehead goodnight then left. 

You and Harry went downstairs and made some hot chocolate, you sat on the kitchen counter while you drank it and Harry stood next to you, as you talked the baby was kicking you quite a bit, "Harry the babies kicking", you said smiling, you took Harrys' hand and placed it on your stomach, "Merlin, must really love the hot chocolate", Harry said, you both chuckled. 

After finishing the hot chocolate you both were really tired, so you both made your way upstairs, got changed, and into bed, Harry pulled you close to him and wrapped his arms around your waist, you rested your head on Harry's chest and sighed tiredly, "I'm so tired, I'm going to bed, goodnight Harry, I love you", you said closing your eyes, "goodnight love, I love you too so much", he said and kissed your forehead "sweat dreams", he whispered, after that you both fell asleep in each other's arms.
