(Y/N POV)
We walk out of the shop and my father asks me to read the list and decide where we should go first. I study the list very carefully and decide that we should go to Flourish and Blotts first. They sell the school books there. We walk in and I pull out the list with the book supplies in it.
"Alright," I begin. "I need eight books? Why so many??" I sigh. "I need Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, A History of Magic, Magical Theory, A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration, The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1), One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, Magical Drafts and Potions, and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection." We get all the books, pay for them, and head to the next store.
"Where would you like to go next?" My mother asks me.
"Well, I need a robe.."
"Ah!" My dad says. "You'll want Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions!" I smile at him. "Well, okay then, let's go!" We go to the next store, and are in and out very quickly, as all I need is a plain black robe. I find one that fits me, we pay for it, and we leave. "Next, I need a wand."
"Ollivander's of course," my mom says. "There isn't any place better!" As we are walking to Ollivander's, we pass by Quality Quidditch Supplies. There's a group of kids standing out front, staring into the big front window. I walk towards them to see what all the commotion is about.
"It's the new Nimbus 2000," says a little pale boy excitedly. "I can't wait for my father to buy me this!"
I roll my eyes. "Someone seems a little stuck up," I say quietly, but not quietly enough. The crowd of kids gasps, and the pale boy turns around.
"Excuse me?" He says in a very snotty tone.
"Oh, I uh, I'm sorry I didn't mean-"
"Just who do you think you are," he says, cutting me off. An older man comes up behind him. I'm assuming it's his father because they have the same platinum blonde hair. "Now now, Draco, play nicely," he says to the boy. Just then, my father comes up behind me. "Lucius, nice to see you," my father says to the older man.
"Ah, Henry! How are you? I see our kids have met," the older man says. The boy and I just look from each other, to our fathers, and back to each other, confused.
(Draco POV)
I have no idea who that girl thinks she is, but how dare she talk to me like that. And then her father starts talking to my father all buddy-buddy? Disgusting. Whatever. I know I'm not "stuck-up" and my father will buy me that broom. Mark my words, she'll see.
(Y/N POV)
After they talk for a bit, they say their farewells and we continue on to Ollivander's. "Daddy," I say. "Who was that?"
"That man was Lucius Malfoy and the little boy was his son, Draco."
"How do you know them?" I ask.
"I work with Lucius at the Ministry." I nod. We get to Ollivander's and I finally get my wand. It's made of pear wood with a dragon heartstring core, 12 ½" and unbending flexibility. We get the rest of my supplies and head back home.
When we get home, I take all my supplies (and my new owl, Nelly) up to my room and plop down onto my bed. It's going to be a long three months...
