Prompt: One-shot where Spencer actually accepted the offer to Toledo and Olivia and Spencer are doing long distance.
--------------------------------
Hey everyone! Long time no story...So sorry for not posting any new stories but inspiration these days to write have been few and far in between. I'm hoping for the new year to get back into a routine of writing and posting more stories and actually getting to all the one-shots that you have sent for me to write a while back. They will hopefully be written soon! I just need to take it one story at a time instead of being overwhelmed with all the stories I need to write.
Although I kind of technically did write a Christmas/ Winter break book for All American and Spencer and Olivia I thought of this one and thought what's one more Christmas story! Lol Especially as we are now a day away from said holiday. And since I wrote a Thanksgiving one-shot I thought to write a Christmas and maybe a New Year one. And if my writing brain starts again a Valentine's day one too! But here I go again getting ahead of myself. One story at a time. So let's first get through this one! :)
--------------------------------
Time of story:
This story takes place during their freshman year at university.
I hope you enjoy and if I don't have another story before the end of the year, happy holidays for those who celebrate, and have a happy new year! :)
--------------------------------
Spencer:
4 days before Christmas. The heavy grey clouds above him hovered low as the white speckles of snow fell to the ground below sticking to the already fresh white powder that crunched below his feet. Rubbing his hands together, Spencer made his way back to his dorm wanting nothing more than to get out of his wet clothes and into something warm. With Christmas being only a few days away and school being done for the semester most of the students had gone back home for the holidays. Something Spencer had planned to do but with his team projected to win state championships, his coach had scheduled them to practice up until Christmas. Leaving Spencer no choice but to stay in Ohio.
A long sigh escaped him throwing his bag by the door, shrugging off his jacket and boots by the coat rack Olivia helped him install. Although his mother and brother weren't happy, they understood that his team winning state would have a lot of eyes on him, especially being a freshman straight out of high school. Everyone was not happy, to say the least, but understood why he had to miss Christmas. Everyone except for Olivia.
His girlfriend of now over a year and the girl he planned to spend the rest of his life with, didn't quite understand why he couldn't be with her on Christmas. Well of course she understood, given that she grew up around the sport and knew how important this was for Spencer's future career. But it didn't help the fact that they haven't seen each other in over three months. Three months and two weeks to be exact.
The day Spencer drove Olivia to the airport after she drove up with him before school started to get him settled, was the last time they saw each other. They promised that every few weeks or so they would make it a point to fly out to see each other, but before they knew it, life got in the way, and a few weeks turned into three months.
Given when they made that promise to each other they knew it was highly unlikely with Spencer being on the team, and Olivia busy with school, and writing for the L.A tribune. During the week he was either studying, running through plays, or in class. And during the weekend he was either practicing or at a game. But he made it a point to visit during the holidays which was the plan until his coach had told him during Thanksgiving break the team would be running drills to make sure they were ready against their biggest rival, the Ohio Bobcats. Meaning he had to miss Thanksgiving.
