Prompt: Flashforward a couple of years later as Spencer was drafted to the Los Angeles Rams.

Hey everyone and happy Saturday! I hope to continue this schedule and upload these one-shots every Saturday moving forward.

This story popped into my head as I was listening to this song earlier this week and couldn't get it out of my head so instead, I decided to write it and see how it went. These are kind of my favorite stories when a song can give me inspiration as it makes it easier for me to write the chapter since I can kind of see how the story will play out in my head. It doesn't happen often but when it does I make sure to take it and run with it.

I usually write happy and lovey-dovey stories but when this story came to mind I knew I had to at least try and write it. Besides not everything has to be a hallmark movie right? We need to take breaks in between and live a little with some angst. Not too much I hope but just enough to give us a break from the hallmark stories I write, LOL.

Happy Reading! :)

The bright lights of the stadium beamed above him, as he slowly walked around in a full circle taking in his view from mid-field. He still couldn't believe the life he'd dreamed of was the same life he was living. All the blood, sweat, and tears he put in throughout the years finally paid off as he now stood in the midst of his dream playing for his home city and his home team, the Los Angeles Rams.

He couldn't believe how fast the time flew as this was his fourth season playing in the NFL. And yet every day it still felt as if he'd been dreaming. That one day he'll wake up from all of this and end up in his childhood bedroom, being 17 again back in Crenshaw. A feeling he'd wished would never leave him as it grounded him these past couple of years never letting the fame or fortune that came with it get to his head.

Not only having his and his family's future set, but he was finally able to give back to his community which was by far the greatest feeling he could've asked for. The city and neighbors that helped build him into the man he is today were the same people he made sure to help. He donated funds to rebuild the local YMCA, and also found resources to keep the kids off the streets by creating programs such as arts, dance, and sports.

But It wasn't easy getting to where he was now, but he was thankful that all the hours and sacrifice he put into his dream actually paid off. In more ways than one, as his agent, Grace James negotiated a four-year contract and a 25 million dollar signing bonus to start off with. Not only was he able to buy his mother a house in Beverly Hills, a few blocks away from his own, but also hire her as his agent.

A plan he had since he was eight years old telling his mother that he wanted to go to the NFL. That same day he told her that he wanted her to be his manager. He kept his promise and the main reason for what kept him going through the lows of his high school and college career.

Being the first overall pick of the NFL Draft had its perks, to say the least. His signing bonus was only just the beginning, not including the Nike and Gatorade sponsorships that came with it. He knew with the title of being the first overall draft pick fresh out of university, and only being 21 at the time would come with a price. He was warned many times by his coaches and mentors back in university. They advised him how much his life and freedom would change. Of course, he knew it would come with the territory but he didn't plan on it taking a toll on the one person that had been beside him since junior year of high school.

The girl he vowed to spend his days with was now the one person that had been feeling the pressure leaving their relationship strained and tense, to say the least. His girlfriend Olivia of now eight years had been by his side through the highs and lows of his professional career.
