Bright's POV

I can hear quick rustles and footsteps around me and Win said it is quite the time to remove the bandages wrapping my eyes.

I was extremely nervous for the past few hours that my body was feeling like jelly but everybody including mother and father kept me accompanied and entertained with their jokes so the nerve-wreck vanished for most of the time.

But right now... everyone is so silent. Like it is a pin drop silence as if the climax of something is getting closer and closer and I know the only reason is they are nervous as just as me.

I could hear the doctor asking only a few people to remain inside the room and I heard footsteps going out and I hope... Win didn't. I really want him to be the first person I see when I open my eyes for the first time after years. If only... I am not unlucky to have this not worked.

"Win?.."

I wanted to make sure he is inside and he has not left so without taking unwanted risks, I called him out to make sure.

"What is it?"

I could feel him holding my hand instantly and that made my heart warm as I clutched it tight and muttered

"Don't go anywhere... I want you..."

I feel extremely vulnerable for some reason and that maybe because I am about to face something big in my life but I don't really have any call in it.

"I'm here..."

Win whispered back and though I cannot see, I can feel him smiling at me.

"Everything will be fine..."

I heard Phi say from beside of me somewhere and I nodded at him gulping to myself.

I really hope so... I really do.

"Okay... now we are going to remove your bandages"

I heard the doctor say and I gave a slight nod. I don't have strength to give a reaction more than that. I am so nervous...

I could feel fingers slowly unwrapping the bandages on my eyes and each passing second made my knees weak and my body restless and just when I could feel air hitting on my eyelids, I shut them even more tightly.

I don't want to open them... What if I still can't see? I am going to keep them closed so I don't have to feel the misery of being disappointed in myself again.

I heard a few chuckles in the background and I shut my eyes even more tightly and then P'Tul's rather humorous voice fell on my ears.

"Hey... open you eyes..."

I can't... I am scared...

I just shook my head sideways and pressed my eyelids harder and this time it was Win's convincing voice

"Bright... how are we too see if we don't open eyes..."

"I'm scared..."

I muttered to him pouting and then I felt a soft chuckle coming from the entire population inside.

You guys wanna die?! This is not funny

"Bright..."

This time the voice was unfamiliar and I guess it is of one of the doctors.

"The operation was a success and we are pretty sure you can see now. So please, open you eyes?"

"You sure?"

I asked gulping a lump in my throat and I could feel Win's hand caressing my back.

"So sure. So once you open your eyes I will elevate my finger in front your eyes, make sure you dialate your eyes in that direction, okay? We need to see if everything is okay..."
