Recap:

Beta Tristan's P.O.V.:

"Mate," I growled lowly, making both girls exchange scared, confused looks.

"H-huh," said the beauty.

"What is your name," I demanded of the girl now cowering behind Isabelle. I mentally slapped my forehead---I had meant to scare her, not my mate.

"Don't use that tone on my best friend! How dare you! Who do you think you are," cried a livid Isabelle, as my mate cowered and shrunk further behind her friend.

"Wrong move, upsetting my mate," growled out Alpha Chris threateningly.

Lexi's P.O.V.:

Why did my Mate have to be so freakishly tall?!  It was unsettling!  He was nearly as tall as his brothers; he must have been around 6"2, at least!

I felt like a pixie compared to him (I was barely 5 feet tall)!

I knew that I had to stop the fight before it started, and I really didn't want to cause a family fight: I had to pull myself together.  Clutching Isa's small hand in my tiny, sweaty one, I shyly stepped out from behind her and squeaked.  Literally, squeaked!  How embarrassing!

Clearing my throat, I said as confidently as possible, "Lexi," though it came out more as a hoarse whisper than the confident introduction that I was aiming for.

Everyone turned towards me so fast that I was surprised that they didn't collectively get whiplash, although I could swear that I did hear Isa's neck crack.

It must have worked, because the bickering ended.

Isa squeezed my hand to show her support when she saw how nervous I looked.

Beta Tristan's P.O.V.:

I could have sworn that I heard her speak, but when I turned to look at her, she had only moved next to Isabelle.  I looked down at their connected hands and grimaced slightly when I saw Isabelle squeeze the girl's hand, as if to reassure her.

She should not be scared of me.  I should be the one to comfort her.  I suppose that I should be happy for now that it was a girl, and her friend, and not a guy giving her comfort, I thought resentfully.

She must have seen my face change and misinterpreted the look as aimed for her, for she was soon trembling like a leaf before a storm.

Slowly, I walked forward, my hands up in the air in front of me, in a 'I surrender' pose.  Her eyes widened and her trembling worsened when she caught on to what I was doing: she looked as if she was about to collapse from nerves.

I reluctantly stopped moving towards her, trying not to show her how upset I was.

"Why are you so scared of me?  I would never hurt you!"

"I-I-I just never had a serious boyfriend before.  I'm not ready for this, for a Mate."

"Why don't we take this one step at a time," I said kindly.  She nodded fervently at my suggestion and visibly relaxed.  "How about we start with your name," I prodded gently.

"It's L-lexi.  Lexi Silver," she said the latter with more confidence than the former.

"What a se---er---beautiful name for a beautiful lady," I complimented, causing her to blush prettily.  "Well, as I already told you, I am Tristan Gold, Beta of the Jagged Iron Claw Pack, and second in command to those three," I said puffing up my chest proudly, head high.

At this, she giggled quietly.  I closed my eyes in sheer bliss: it was such a joyous, care-free, bell-like sound.  I could listen to it all day.  Too soon her giggles subsided, to my disappointment.

God, the triplets are right; I was already falling in love and turning soft.  This was going to be hard, more so with her being so shy and innocent.  Not that I didn't love her innocence...that way I would be able to teach her everything.

Looking at her with hooded eyes, I vaguely wondered if she had ever been kissed before, and hoped to god that she had 'virgin lips'.

Lexi's P.O.V.:

Why was he looking at me like that, was he OK, I wondered, worried.

"Can we have some privacy, brothers, Isabelle," he rumbled in a demanding voice.

Before Isabelle could say anything, her three mates swooped down on her and practically dragged her up the staircase, to where I presume her room is.  I blushed and quickly turned away when I accidentally caught sight of a bulge in one of their pants.  It was huge---I hope she would be OK!!!

Mortified, with a tomato-red face, I turned back to a smug-looking Tristan.  He quickly wiped the look off his face, when he saw me staring in wide-eyed worry, though.

"Want to go into the living room and play 21 questions," he murmured.

"Sure, I guess," I muttered.  I gently took my arm and placed it on his.  When I felt shocks run up and down my arm, I jumped, startled.  Smirking slightly, He tightened his hold on me, ever so slightly, as if to make sure I would stay beside him.

We came to the living room and I tried to pull away to go sit on a different chair from him, but he just held me tighter and sat down in a leather recliner, pulling me into his lap.
