A/N: Multiple Myeloma is a real, and as of yet, incurable disease. If you have Multiple Myeloma, or are close to someone who does, knowing what to expect may help you cope. The external link also shown here may be helpful, and is an official site.

Another A/N: I will be skipping the part where Alpha Trent tells Isabelle about having Cancer.

"This is so good but so a sad..."

Isabelle's P.O.V.:

The words kept coming back to me, no matter how much I tried to fall asleep later that night.

"I have Multiple Myeloma."

I turned onto my left side. Usually I fell asleep faster than a fly dropped dead on a cold winter's day. Not tonight. Not when I truly needed it.

"It's an incurable disease."

I started to play with my long braid absent-mindedly, chewing on my lip nervously, as was my habit.

"The pack Doctors aren't sure how long I have..."

I huffed and tossed and turned for a bit, finally settling on my other side. You would think Egyptian cotton sheets would be more comfortable---tonight I could swear it was as abrasive as sandpaper, though.

"I want to consult with other pack's Doctors, and get other opinions..."

Grumbling to myself, I brutally yanked the chain to the light next to my bed. I would never get any sleep, not at this rate at least. I may as well do something constructive.

The house was so quiet; it was almost like I was the only one there. Scaring myself with that thought, I went to check in on my Uncle Trent.

Suddenly the silence was broken by 'All the Single Ladies' loudly blasting through my room. Startled, I fell out of bed, taking my sheets and comforter with my, screeching like a banshee as I went.

Pulling myself with some difficulty from the tangled mass of sheets, I put my hand to my heart that seemed to flutter at the rate of a hummingbird's wing.  Where was the noise coming from?

Then I remembered---one of the Alphas, Alex maybe?  Yes, Alex, brought my phone over around 1AM.  He had seemed like he wanted to stay and...talk...but I wasn't up for it.

I was pulled from my reverie when my phone started ringing again. It had to be Lexi, we had programmed the same tune into our phones for each other.

I sure hope that nothing was wrong---but why else would she call, at 3:42 AM?!
