|91| A Tragic Love

"Toru--"

"I just need you to be truthful with me, okay?" Toru says as he interrupts you.

He has taken you to an area of the school which is off limit from the outsiders. He did it so that you two can talk without worry of anyone listening. Toru also made sure no one was following.

You look at him anxiously as you hands find each other. Your nails started to peel your skins and pulling on it. Toru hasn't noticed it as he's looking at you, at your face, your expressions, your eyes... 

"Do you love me?" he ask which made you inhale sharply as you look the other way, not wanting to answer the question. You ended the relationship. You know he knows the answer but if you say it, he might end up saying how he doesn't want to break up and you'll yell at him.

You don't mean to but you're scared and you're afraid you'll end up saying something you don't want to say.

"(Name), please. Answer the question," Toru begs.

You continue to avoid eye contact and in a low voice you say... "No..." saying it felt like knife wounds into your heart. The pain of saying no when he's asking you that you love him is painful. Saying such a lie like that.

Toru's eyes widen at the obvious lie, "Are you really going to lie just to protect me?" he ask you with a slight sign of pain in his voice.

"I told you--"

"The past is in the past, (Name)," Toru tells you softly as he look down to your hands and sees how you're peeling your skin. He shows an expression of pain on his face as he doesn't want to see you like this. He moves a little closer to you and gently takes your hands in his and you make no movement. You're afraid to move.

"The past is in the past so leave it behind," he tells you gently, "The future is in the future, it has yet to happen and nothing is clear," Toru lean his head down and his forehead gently touches the top of your head. You raise your head which cause him to lean back his head and to look at you as you were now, "We're living in the present so let's live in the present," he places his forehead on yours and smile softly, "Just focus on us, on your friends who love you and your family. Just think about all the amazing people you have in your life and how much we love you and how protected you are," Toru says.

He doesn't want to yell at you nor start an argument. It's not going to lead anything to anywhere. It will just cause more problem and he knows you enough to know that you don't deal well with serious arguments like yelling or any loud noises. You like to deal with it and talk about it calmly so that there isn't any misunderstanding and try to understand.

"Toru..." you whisper as you don't know what you say. You look down at your hand that's holding his and then you look back at him.

"Do you love me, (Name)?" Toru ask you once again as he pulls back to look at you.

You bite your lip as you stay quiet for a few seconds and think about everyone and the situation. Back then, you were just a kid, all the victims were. Now you're an adult and everyone knows the situation and the danger.

You know Eric will stand next you despite anything you say. You know your siblings have your back. You know your parents will do anything to protect you. You know you have your family that will protect you. You have wonderful friends that will stand next to you. You have all these people around you, surrounding you like a shield.

You've done everything you could to protect them and got hurt along the way but now they're here to protect you. You're scared but you now you had to trust them. You know you had to leave your past in the past. Tyler can't hurt you.
