Pain. The same one I haven't felt in a really long time. A gunshot wound on my stomach was something new. Not explored.
But what I do know now is that I don't like it. I hate it. I'd rather have burns. This hurts like a bitch. As if my guts were everywhere where they shouldn't be.
I slowly opened my eyes. I was blinded by the light that passed through the window and illuminated the entire living room and the kitchen.
I tried to sit up, but it passed me quickly. For that, however, I noticed a bandage wrapped around my stomach.
"How are you feeling?" I moved my gaze to the kitchen, where the male voice came from.
I didn't even have the strength to answer him properly. He understood and came closer to me. He sat down next to me and put a glass of water to my lips, tilting it slowly and the liquid got into my mouth.
"Thanks," I said softly and rested my head on the pillow.
"I pulled out a bullet and sewed you up. It didn't hit anything important, so you should be fine. But I don't recommend sharp movements."
"Are you a doctor?" I frowned. It is impossible for me to be so lucky.
"Something like that yeah." He laughed.
I wanted to ask him what he meant, but the doorbell interrupted me. "It'll probably be Julia and Lily." I supported myself and miraculously sat down.
"You shouldn't do that." He reached out to me, but I tapped his hand. "A strong woman as I see."
"Shut up." I slowly got to my feet, but my knees broke. Fortunately, he caught me. "I'm okay." I pushed away from him and fixed my T-shirt. If they see me like this, covered in blood...I'll need a good excuse.
I started walking to the door when I heard that he was coming after me. "I don't think they're your friends." I turned to him.
"Who else would it be?" I frowned. Only the two of them know where I live. Josef doesn't know either.
"You've been out for a really long time, so I went over your cell phone." I raised an eyebrow. He did what? "I found your emergency contact and called it." The doorbell rang again.
I made only one person as an emergency contact. And I was a little out while doing it. But he wouldn't just show up here. There is no chance. Not after all these years.
I turned back to the door and reached for the doorknob. I unlocked it and opened the door without hesitation.
"Leo." His name slipped from my mouth.
It can't be him. It's been five years. He wouldn't just show up here.
The man in front of me was different. Different than I left him.
He finally let his hair grow out a bit, which had been slightly curly since he was a child. A little beard suited him. And then there were those eyes. The eyes I dreamed of every day. Which I saw when I was sad and at the bottom.
