y/n's pov

After landing and tying up the reindeer, we started following the chime of the tracker. Everything was going good until we passed a church.

"We're really close." Teddy said.

"You think it's inside the church?" Kate asked.

"No." Teddy answered, slowing down. "It's gotta be around here somewhere."

"Yeah..."

I watched as Teddy stopped and faced the church doors. He put the tracking thing in his pocket and just stared.

"This was his favourite song." Teddy said.

"He sang it every Christmas Eve."

"You know, I haven't been to church since he..."

"I know. Me neither."

I stood back, not far behind them, but far enough that I didn't step on their moment. I watched as Teddy pulled out his knife and took a few steps away from Kate.

Kate put a hand on her brother's arm.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Nothing! God! Would it kill you to leave me alone for one mi—" He stopped when his knife flew out of his hand and skidded on the ice, stopping when it hit my foot. I picked it up and carefully handed him the knife.

Teddy sat down on the steps.

"He would be so disappointed in me." He said. "I know mom sure is."

"That's because she knows deep down, you're not a total screw-up." Kate answered and Teddy chuckled.

"Thanks. Uh, you're making me feel great."

I sat down beside him as Kate apologised.

"Sorry." She said softly.

"No, I deserve it." He stared down at the ground. "I know I've been an awful brother, I've been horrible. It's just... I've been so mad at him. I mean, he spent years helping other people, but where is he now? When I need him? Why did he have to go into that stupid fire?" Teddy's voice began to shake and tears brimmed in his eyes. "He had a wife... and two kids, and he gave it all up... just to save some random strangers. And now, I'd give anything just to tell him..."

"Tell him what?" Kate asked. Teddy didn't answer, so Kate, being the sweetheart that she is, talked to Teddy more. "Teddy, you aren't such an awful brother. Dad wouldn't be disappointed in you. You know how I know?"

"How?"

"Because I see him all the time... in you."

Teddy turned to face Kate.

"You're just saying that cause you wanna save Christmas."

"True, but... I also believe it. You just gotta believe it too."

"Thanks Kate." He smiled.

"Should we hug it out?" Kate asked, putting her arms out.

Teddy sniffled as he stood up.

"In your dreams."

Teddy pulled out the tracker as I stood up and it was chiming very fast.

"Kate, take this. We'll be there in a second." Teddy handed it to Kate and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Okay, don't take too long."

Kate ran off and Teddy turned to face me.

"What was that about?" I asked.
