Her mouth clamped shut, nostrils flaring, eyes wide as she seemed to digest this new bit of information. "Also a vampire?" she confirmed.
I nodded, pressing my lips together, wary to show too much information.
She pulled her hands from mine and my stomach sank. But rather than retreating, she held two fingers up by her mouth and said, "As in, with the fangs?"
A laugh escaped me as I shook my head. "No fangs." I opened my mouth to show her for good measure. Her eyes narrowed, as she actually inspected my teeth.
"I've never seen you... drink blood?"
Pressing my lips, I glanced out the door to the kitchen.
"What?" she asked, following my gaze.
But then I looked back at her and waited until she realised.
Her brows shot up as she turned to look at me."Those pills?" she exclaimed.
I nodded.
"But... how?"
"My uncle..."
"The scientist?"
I nodded again.
"Oh my..." She fell down against the bed, eyes focussed on the ceiling as her brows furrowed.
"Do you... are you scared of me?" I breathed my fears, staying seated where I was.
"Scared?" she asked, head lifting slightly to look at me. "Do you ever listen when I talk?"
"Most of the time."
"Most?" She sat up again.
"Sometimes I'm too lost in staring at you... wondering if you're real." I figured if we were not keeping secrets anymore... may as well unleash everything.
That took her off guard. It was a cheap play, honestly. I mean, it's not that it wasn't true. But I was also hoping if I went full force on my feelings, it would help lessen the intensity of everything... that perhaps her feelings for me would outweigh whatever part of herself could convince her to run like she should. Which is why I also showed her my magic through making her a piece of jewelry. I was playing to every single love language in the hopes it would keep her... words of affirmation, physical touch, gifts...
"R... right... okay..." she bumbled, heart racing as her cheeks flushed. "Well, if you weren't always doing that, you'd know that I said I'm not about to run from any vampire who hasn't said they..." Her brows contorted as she spoke, a new emotion washing over her face as though she couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. "... if they say they don't want to eat me... Do you want to eat me?" she quickly tagged on the last part, eyes wide.
I couldn't stop the slight laugh that escaped myself. "That's a tough question..."
"How?" she squeaked.
Lukas... stop scaring her. "Of course I wouldn't... mind a taste." My mouth watered at the thought of her fruity scented blood washing over my tongue. "But only if you asked me to," I added for good measure.
"If I asked?"
"Mhmm. Otherwise your blood is off limits to me," I said with a nod... partly trying to convince myself in the process. "Besides, I have the pills."
"So... you don't drink blood?"
I shook my head. "The pills and food I eat is enough."
"But like... it's not fun?"
Shrugging, I said, "It is what it is."
"Have you... had human blood before?"
At her question, I looked down, remembering the other parts bound to scare her away.
