The Fight (Part 1) (16)

Mia's POV:

'We're going to get through this you know.' I said.

'Yeah, we will.' he said.

'After this one, you should retire. Spend time with your family. Spend time with Laura, Lila, Cooper and Bear.' I said. 

'Okay, we're not naming my son, Bear.' He said and I chuckled. 

'Come on, let's go.' He said as we got up. We went to the hanger and started the jet for the rest of the team. As they entered, I gave them their ear pieces and went to the co-pilot's seat. 

'Ultron knows we're coming. Odds are, we'll be riding into heavy fire. And that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority, is getting them out. All they want is to live their lives in peace and that's not going to happen today. But, we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done. We find out what Ultron's been building. We find Romanoff, and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us. Ultron thinks we're monsters, and we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. it's about whether he's right.' Steve said.

When we reached to the ground, I gave the pair of batons to Bruce who was going to get Nat. After that, Wanda and me got to work, I took half the town and she took the other half. We mind controlled the civilians into getting out of their houses and out of town. Steve was on the bridge, urging cars to move forward faster. Suddenly, multiple Ultrons started to break out of the soil, come out of the water, fly up to the civilians.

'Holy shit.' I muttered.

'What should we do now?' Wanda asked.

'We fight.' I said as I flew up and dodged hits from the Ultrons. I hit a few with bubbles of energy but since they were made out of Vibranium, it took much more than just a few hits. I looked down and saw Wanda making a shield in front of her and the civilians. I flew back down to her and urged the people to go back faster. Suddenly, I heard a grunt and I looked back to see Wanda on the floor.

'Wanda!' I yelled as I went up to her. I shot the bots around us with energy blasts and helped Wanda up. 

'Tony, what's going on with Vision?' I asked.

'FRIDAY, the Vision?' 

'Boss, it's working, he's burning Ultron out of the 'net. He won't escape through there.' FRIDAY's voice came through. Suddenly, the ground started to shake and large cracks started appear in the ground. I saw Clint running up to Wanda and me.

'Clint wait here. I'll see what's going on.' I said and flew up. I then observed that the ground was not going further away and realised that it was rising up. Goosebumps layered my skin, coming in waves and not stopping. I couldn't comprehend what was happening around me. I was taken out of my daze by someone calling my name in the comms.

'Mia! Help the civilians.' Clint's voice came through.

'Copy that..' I said and I flew to the borders. A man was holding a woman and I helped them up. They quickly scrambled away. Multiple Ultrons came towards me and I shot them with waves of energy. 

'Do you see? The beauty of it, the inevitability. You rise, only to fall. You Avengers, you are my meteor, my swift and terrible sword, and the Earth will crack with the weight of your failure. Purge me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me. It means nothing. When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be metal.' Ultron's voice rang though the air. I got a grenade out and threw it towards a bunch of Ultrons coming at me. 

'Mia! Come and help to clear out the buildings!' Tony's voice rang through the comms. 

'On it!' I said back as I flew up to Tony.  We went in a building and I took the seventh floor while he took the tenth floor. I flew inside through the window, breaking it and saw a family of five scared, cowering in a corner. There were two moms and three kids, all of them were panicking.

'Hi.' I said awkwardly, trying to get them to calm down. 

'Come on. I'll get you out of here.' I said as I went up to them. The kids were hardly seven years old. The were scared and could not even speak because of the shock. 

'Do you want to fly?' I asked the kids and they nodded hesitantly. 

'Come on.' I said holding my hand out. They grabbed it and the parents ran up to me, holding their kids with their hands. Two kids had climbed on my back and one was holding on to my torso as I placed an arm under her. 

'Hang on.' I muttered as I flew back out the window I came through just as the building fell down. Suddenly, and Ultron started shooting at us.

'A little help here.' I said as I dodged the hits and shot a few balls of energy at him but they were not stopping. 

'Hang on.' I heard Tony say and the bots were blasted into oblivion. I landed back down and let the kids go. The girl that was clutching onto me was not letting go.

'Hey buddy. You've got to let go.' I told her but she shook her head vigorously. 

'Will you kill the bad guys?' She asked, I nodded. 

'How can I help your friends and get rid of the bad guys if you don't let me go?' I asked. She looked at me for a few seconds and let go of me. I saw Pietro and called him over.

'Take them to a safe place for me please.' I told him and he nodded. I saw Steve being pushed into a car by an Ultron and rushed up to him.

'Cap, you got incoming.' Tony said.

'Incoming already came in.' Steve said, groaning. The windows on the building behind us all broke and I rushed to it. 

'Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely.' I said as I rushed in the building.

'The rest of us have one job: tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt 'em back. You get killed, walk it off.' Steve said and I scoffed at the last comment. I ran to where Clint and Wanda were, I hadn't heard from them in a while and started to get worried. I saw him and Wanda run towards a window and crash through it to get cover. 

'Clint!' I yelled as I dealt with most of the bots and ran back in with them. 

'You guys okay?' I asked as I ran up to them

'How could I let this happen?' Wanda started to mutter.

'Hey, hey, you okay?' Clint asked.

'This is all our fault.' Wanda said.

'Hey look at me. It's your fault, it's everyone's fault, who cares. Are you up for this? Are you? Look, I just need to know cause the city is- the city is flying. Okay look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense.' Clint said. I sat on the ground to rest for a few minutes and listened to what Clint was saying. 

Clint's so done with himself.  I thought. Suddenly, another shot came through the wall, missing them both by inches. Clint shot another arrow through the hole, hitting the bots on the other side.
