Shira slapped her daughter's arm as the two sat side-by-side on a surprisingly comfortable hospital bed. The lighting was harsh, and glared down directly into Jules' eyes as she squinted, her face pulled into an expression of annoyance as she stared at the nurse.
Thankfully, he only chuckled. "I'm afraid so, although the symptoms may be amplified by blood pressure, have you noticed a change in your stress levels lately?"
Only if you don't count rejecting a guy that I really like, telling my best friend that she was naive, and trying to win a karate championship. She though dryly, although the expression on her face must have given her away; as the nurse - whose name was apparently Dr. Leone - chuckled. "Thought so." He tapped the clipboard in his hand, speaking more directly to Shira as Jules momentarily lost focus. She was given some painkillers upon arrival, and they were making her head feel all light. It was as if she was never kicked in the head (twice) or pushed into a log, drugs truly do miracles.
"She's gonna have to take it easy for at least ten days, although we reccomend a full two weeks." The man said, and Jules took a moment to process this, before her eyes widened.
"What? You're kidding-" she turned to Shira, "Ma, I can't just do nothing for two weeks, it's the summer!"
Shira looked awfully pleased at this information, but did her best to keep a poker face as she patted her daughter's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Ahava, but concussions are serious."
"She's right," Leone scribbled something down on his sheet. "And what sport did you say you did?"
"Karate," Jules and Shira answered in unison, their tones varying in incredulity as the nurse's eyes widened slightly. He whistled through his teeth. "Yep, two weeks will definitely be neccessary, and if you feel dizzy at any time afterward, come back and we'll check it out."
"Great," Jules muttered sarcastically, clenching her teeth. Two weeks, she had to sit out of karate for twoweeks. She could barely stand sitting out long enough to untie her shoelaces.
This was going to be a long summer.

"YOU LOSERS WON the All Valley? How, did your competition laugh themselves to death?"
When Shira told Jules that Miguel finished first in the tornament, the first emotion she felt was immense pride... and then annoyance, considering the fact that she wasn't there to see it for herself. She purposely waited until her mother left to go to work, and then walked all the way to the Dojo. The warm sun and fresh air helped her headache loads, although she wasn't too excited to sit in the corner for an hour and a half.
