"WAIT..." Miguel paused, holding out his hands, his brows furrowed as the two walked side by side. "So she said that I let you win, and then she shoved Sam into a buffet table... and then you kicked a cup of vodka into her face?"
Jules nodded solemnly, "pretty much."
The boy laughed, "I'm coming with you to the beach club next time, that sounds hilarious."
Jules couldn't help but grin, reaching over to gently punch his arm. "Shut up. That girl pisses me off, and you're lucky I just kicked her cup, it should've been her head."
"Yeah, well she's not here right now." Miguel grinned proudly. "And I have something amazing planned."
Jules rose an eyebrow, "someone's awfully confident."
The two were in Encino, looking awfully out of place as they walked down the darkened street, hand in hand. Jules liked how their date was doing so far, although a pit of nerves was building in her stomach.
She, obviously, didn't have a lot of experience with romance. The most romantic thing she had ever done is cry at the end of the Titanic movie. And even then, when Demetri asked her what she was doing, she ruined the movie by throwing a bowl of popcorn at his face.
Jules didn't try to hide that she was uncomfortable with emotions, growing up with a father who never said I love you, and a mother who said it twice the amount to make up for it, she had always been confused about what it feels like to be loved. That's not saying she's in love with Miguel, it's way too soon for that. But around him, she felt comfortable... like she didn't have to pretend she was someone she wasn't.
She was hoping he wasn't planning anything too traditional, that wasn't Jules' style.
Miguel spread his arms out as they approached a large house, lights shining from the inside, with soft music being heard from outside. "Welcome to the annual fundraiser for Cole's Auto. A mansion packed with old rich people who want to talk about cars."
Jules blinked, momentarily dumbfounded as she turned to look at Miguel. "I'm sorry, what?"
The boy smiled, "well, I was thinking of what to do for tonight, and then I remembered one very important fact about you... you love messing with rich people. So then I started to think about a place where the most rich people would be gathered, and my Mom mentioned this..."
Jules laughed, leaning her head back as a grin spread across her face. She could feel her nerves dissipating as the two watched a middle aged couple in fancy clothes walk into the house, the music swelling for a moment, before fading back into background noise as the door shut. "Holy shit, this is perfect."
