So hearing that one of Johnny's old friends had passed away gave her the very strong urge to moonwalk out of the room and never return. But she did figure that she should try to be kind and loving, especially after Johnny helped her with her past situation.
But when she saw him, she kept saying the wrong thing.
Miguel spoke first, the couple immediately approaching their Sensei when they walked through the door. He folded his hands behind his back, respectfully averting his gaze when he spoke. "I'm sorry for you lost, Sensei. How was the funeral?"
The man shrugged, "as good as any funeral can be, I guess."
"I once went to a funeral after my great grandmother died, and like... they put a lot of makeup on dead people. Are they trying to convince people that they're not dead, or just that they died glamorously?"
The males both turned to give the girl their own form of an incredulous look, and she grimaced as her face flushed red. "I should have just said sorry, shouldn't I?"
"Yeah, probably." Johnny rolled his eyes, "you know, Monroe, your terrible personality actually made me feel better. Thanks for being born a freak."
"Did you bleach your hair again while you were away, or is it just you transitioning from 'old' to 'dinosaur'?"
Johnny cracked a smile at that, patting her shoulder once, before walking into his office. As soon as he was out of ear shot, Miguel turned to gently shove her shoulder. "Ana, what the hell was that?"
"I'm not good at this stuff!" She exclaimed, crossing her arms over her torso. She was a little bit overheated in her outfit, since she was told that they were supposed to dress for the outdoors. She figured her black cargo pants, black crop top, and olive-green zip-up hoodie were acceptable - but the heating of the dojo was beginning to make her sweat. "I can't do emotion, my brain just-" she made a melting gesture with her hands, making Miguel grin and shake his head.
"Oh I know, Ana, I know."
"Hey, el serpiente-" Hawk drawled, sauntering over to the two; his cocky aura enough to make Jules want to gag. She crossed her arms, squinting at the boy as he completely ignored her, grinning at Miguel. "Ready for the special training? I'll bet five dollars that I'll kick your ass."
His tone was playful, but Jules just narrowed her eyes further. "I'll bet ten that you won't."
Hawk's eyes drifted over to her, his lip curling lightly and his cheeks turning pink. Miguel was completely oblivious to the tension, as he turned to glance at Jules. "You'd bet your whole life savings?"
