You have learned early in your life that there are things that couldn't be planned ahead of time, so you just learned to go along the flow of things.

But perhaps you had gone along the flow much more than what you would have liked. You knew him, both of you attended the same Academy from grade school until graduating from high school.

Ushijima Wakatoshi.

He had become a popular athlete, one of the most paid professional volleyball players in the nation. While you, on the other hand, had paved the way through runway modelling and being part of several magazine covers.

So it wasn't really a surprise when you approached him during that get-together with the alumni from high school. But that simple approach led to one thing that led to another. From talking and drinking to kissing and making out.

Then you found yourself naked in the same bed with this six foot something sex god, and it wouldn't take a genius to know something had happened between you two, albeit under the influence of alcohol.

But things happened, and weeks later the thing you dreaded occurred.

You got pregnant, a small life slowly growing in your belly. You found it unethical to get rid of it, because it did nothing wrong, and it's not like you cannot raise it with the money you have now. But being scrutinized and frowned upon for getting pregnant from a one night stand had crossed your mind.

But that wasn't enough reason to get rid of it.

And it's not like you're going to keep it a secret from its father either.

You told Ushijima, unsurprisingly he took the news quite better than most would. He was so calm about it, so calm that if you didn't know him for years you would have thought he doesn't care at all.

"What do you want to do?" he asked, and you were somehow glad that he's asking you first instead of deciding himself.

"Marriage is out of the choices."

Thinking about it, your parents were in the same situation before. Your mother got pregnant with you and during that time, marriage is the only choice. But because your parents never love each other, they filed for divorce when you were seven and you and your mother moved to Miyagi while your dad stayed in Tokyo, later on you found out he went abroad with his other family.

Sometimes you wondered if there was a time when they loved each other, however fleeting. Since you were conceived and born after all. But as you grow older, you realized that it wasn't really making love, it was simply sex, nothing more and nothing less than that.

"Then what do you suggest, Y/n?" he asked. "I don't intend to get married either, so what else do you suggest?"

"A contract," you answered. "When the baby is born, we can share responsibility as parents, but that doesn't mean we have to live under the same roof, sleep in the same bedroom and eat in the same table."

Eventually you and Ushijima agreed on the contract. The baby was born healthy, you both agreed to name him Aren, a german word for eagle ruler.

And as Aren grows each day, you and Ushijima did your part in the contract. From Monday to Saturday, you two each have three days to spend with Aren. On Sundays, if you and Ushijima are both not busy, then you three can go out and eat outside.

From dividing days of the week to spending a whole week each with Aren to a whole month, it is what you and Ushijima agreed on, after all. And you both found it convenient.

Both of you are at the top of your game, he's gaining reputation for being one of the best professional volleyball players in the nation and you're gaining your spot as part of the most famous runway models that had walked the runways in different countries.

Since after all, one cannot tie down two winged creatures.

But you and Ushijima should have known, that even baby eagles would long for its parents to teach them how to fly.

And as Aren grew older, he started to ask things. Until on his seventh birthday, he made his wish.

"Apparently our son wants us to live together. The three of us, in the same house."
