Only when you woke up the next day did you see Ushijima's message. He did well, thank you for taking him to the recital when I couldn't, was what's written on the message.

When he couldn't, you thought. Even if he could skip a day in training, he wouldn't. You knew he'd always choose volleyball over anyone. You do too, you'd choose your career over anyone, except your son.

Because he always comes first, but perhaps Ushijima have never shared the same sentiments as you when it comes to putting anything aside for Aren.

You read his message a few times before closing your eyes and letting your phone slide down from your hand as you lie on the comfort of your bed for a few more minutes, arm atop your forehead before finally deciding to start off your day. Heading outside your room, you went to the kitchen and took out veggies from the fridge to make green smoothie.

On any other day you'd be going outside to jog, but since you can't leave your son alone in your house you decided to skip today's jog and thought of bringing him along tomorrow if he wakes up early.

Your son did wake up half an hour later and he saw you in the living room lounging on the sofa with a book and a glass of green smoothie as he approached you.
