Hi sorry 4 not updating, I've had this draft unfinished lying about soooo here lolz I've decided to finish it. I think I should hire someone to name my chapters. Also, I don't usually write in 1st person character POVS for a whole chunk, (yeah sometimes I throw some in there but just character thoughts mostly) but I might experiment with it, tell me what you think

Garus Point of view

I wonder how he does it.
I took a look over my shoulder and saw Tobe with a scrunched up expression under his mask and his arms crossed over his chest. I wonder how he always somehow manages to amuse me! I giggled, a little too loudly. "Huh" Tobe blinked in surprise. "What are you laughing at." He asked in an unusually calm but slightly irrated tone. I truly expected him to get defensive, and pull his swords out and yell, "Ninjas, attack!!!" Oh no. the thought made me laugh even harder.

Tobe rolled his eyes and clicked his tounge. "Look, it wasn't THAT funny, ok? I was just-" his dark eyes scattered all over the place. "-just trying to comfort baby Garu over here! Yeah! You, crybaby. Hmph!" He turned his head in annoyance. strangest thought occurred to me in that moment. I think I would like to rewind time and see him say that again, except without his mask. I imagined the movement of his dark hair, sweeping off his shoulder as he turned his head. And his lips spelling out whatever it was that he was saying, I don't recall it exactly.

"Hey, earth to Garu? Hello? We aren't gonna find whatever it is your pigtails picked up from miles away if you keep doing..whatever that is." Tobe circled his index finger at who he was referring to. Oh-what? I just realized that I was ogling Tobe moments ago, my hands flew to my jaw to close it shut. That was so strange. I hope he didn't think much of it. I grabbed my pigtails and pulled them down, I think I just died inside a little. "Huh. Look who's embarrassed now! I mean-I was never embarrassed in the first place but uh, clearly you are." Tobe stammered over his words.

Tobes POV

I'm not sure to where we're headed, but it's close. Garu has been acting a little erratic now that we've advanced deeper into the island. I gulped. Do bears live on tropical islands? I hope not. Hold on a minute, is that...? Garu must have thought the same thing I did, he left me behind and rushed over to these huge leaves I guess (lmao)

I gave him a questioning look. "What is it, Garu?" He stared at me with little thought behind his expression, pretty unusual. Most of the time, it's possible to read what he's saying, one just needs to pay attention to his face and body language, maybe those oddly adorable grunts of his too, enough of that.

Garu pulled the thick leaves and plants apart and revealed a waterfall that dropped into a clear stream. "Oh wow. Cool, Garu! I am most pleased." I did not think he would know so much about the wilderness, impressive dare I say. He smiled and nodded, "It was nothing." I read. He walked over the the fountain and cupped his hands under it. After taking a sip of it, he turned and gave me a thumbs up. "Oh, uh." I returned the gesture. "You could've done that without your gloves, you know. That's disgusting."

We turned our attention to the rest of the surrounding area. It was covered in plants and earth like the rest of the island, but it was also pretty spacious and flat. "Hmm, oh! Should we set up camp here?" I settled down onto the grass and crossed my legs. A break from the whole ordeal was much needed.

Garu grunted "Mhm." He got up from kneeling down next to the water and stretched out his arms. "Oh what." I blurted out. Garu immediately got to work. He began to gather random junk from the ground

I was dumbfounded. How were we supposed to pull this off, we JUST got here, wasn't he exhausted? "Hey! You don't expect me to just get to work after hours of being crammed with you and walking and-" a stack of rocks and wood were dropped at my feet, I accidentally let out a yelp. I looked up at Garu, he just hummed and dusted off his gloved hands. I scowled, but before I could get my hands on him, he stopped me with a finger and waved it at my face. "M-Mm" and he was off. This further infuriated me, but he did have a point. I grumbled.

I examined the pile that was left in front of me. I picked out the sharpest rock (resisting the urge to throw it at Garu) along with a thick branch. This is easy. I can start with crafting some tools! Though, it would be much easier having my ninjas do it for me. Shit, they probably wouldn't even get THAT right.
I wanted to laugh, but all of a sudden my face felt stiff and my throat started to sting, like a lump. I tried to swallow, but I accidentally choked out a pathetic sound. Oh no. I quickly turned away from Garu, who unfortunately, was attentive enough to hear me.

I didn't like to admit it, but the ninjas are pretty important to me, I never thought I'd miss them. Yes, they are my henchman, but they go out of their way to make me feel loved. They are truly like friends to me, pretty gross but it's true. I feel a hand softly rub onto my shoulder. I face that stupid worried expression of his, already reaching out to try and wipe mine. I slapped his hand away from my eyes and quickly got a grip on myself.

"I'm fine, just got an eyelash in my eye, I have REALLY thick eyelashes." I wiped my face on my sleeve. "Now, where was I? Oh yes! Let's see." I grabbed a branch off the pile and slid the sharp rock down it's side, I still felt his gaze on me. "You can leave now, don't mind me! I'm pretty busy back her-JEEZ!" The cursed rock slipped out of my grip and sliced into the thumb that held down the branch.

I quickly pulled away. Could this day get any worse. Pathetic. Garu quickly took my hand and wrapped my bleeding thumb with a piece of red ribbon. I looked up and realized that he had taken down a pigtail. "Oh, Garu don't." But he already tied it off. I looked down, rubbing the fabric against my fingers, sitting there thinking for a bit. "Thank you." It came out coarsely. "I just, I thought about my Ninjas." It felt so strange, being so vulnerable in front of him. My attention turned to his single pigtail. It looked stupid. Somehow, the sight lifted my mood. "Now that's irritating, take that off, you look ridiculous." I reached over and undid his hair. Surprisingly, he let me, and he laughed awkwardly. He knew too.
