I woke up feeling quite refreshed after my nap. I didn't realise how much losing my pendant stressed me out. But now that I have it back I'm feeling so much better. I stretched with a loud yawn before climbing off of the bed and checking the time. Cool, I've got about twenty minutes before it's time for lunch. I grab my satchel that still has the raggedy bear in it and head out of the room.
I go back up to the Gryffindor common room and the fat lady looks less shocked to see me. I make sure to place the bear exactly where I got it from and head back down the stairs. I hope she remains true to her word because it's going to be a but hard to explain to McGonagal that I blackmailed Martha into giving my pendant back. I head to the girls bathroom before even thinking about going to wait by the Transfiguration room. For once the place should be completely empty and I can wash my face in peace.
After using the toilet and thoroughly cleaning my hands I splash some cold water on my face. Making sure to clean away any sleep left in my eyes. I hear footsteps approach the bathroom and I stand up straight just as Aubrey enters the room.
"Emilie! I've been looking for you" She says exasperatedly
"Yeah the boys mentioned you were looking for me" I say calmly
I know I shouldn't be mad at her but she knew that Martha was the one who damaged all my things and she decided talking to Samantha was more important than telling me or the Professors. I wouldn't hesitate to tell her if roles were reversed.
"About this morning" she says nervously "I was going to tell you if she didn't turn herself in"
"Right" I say, obviously not believing her "and that would've been when exactly?"
"Before first period" she says defensively
"But you didn't" I say shrugging my shoulders "shes not gone to the Professors yet. And it took me overhearing your conversation for me to be able to get something worth more than anything to me back"
She stood there quietly. Fidgeting with the hem of her cloak and doing her best to not make eye contact.
"If roles were reversed I wouldn't have hesitated to find you and go to the Professors" I say with a cold tone "i wouldn't have wasted any time and made sure you got your things back. I thought that's what friends do Aubrey"
"Of course it is! I just didn't want to be caught in the middle" she sighs "Sam's my friend too ok, and I didn't want her to be in trouble"
"Right. Lets just hope that she doesn't piss off Martha and have all her belongings ruined" I say sarcastically "because she wouldn't know what to do then"
"Look I just need some space to cool off" I say shaking my head "I'm not going to be pleasant to be around until I've completely cooled off"
She nods her head and wanders off towards a toilet stall. I leave and head out to the corridor. It was beginning to fill up with students being let out of their lessons slightly early. I decided to head straight to the Transfiguration room in hopes McGonagal hadn't let them leave early. I dodged and weaved through the crowd and eventually got to the room. Lucky for me I could hear McGonagal just finishing wrapping up the lesson and dismissing the class from the corridor. The door swung open and a gaggle of Hufflepuff students flowed out into the corridor. They chattered happily about what they were hoping to have for lunch and how they thought the lesson went. Next came a handful of students from different houses, all of them happily gossiping away about something.
The twins came out next. Fred gave me a goofy smile as soon as he saw me and George winked before wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
"Ready for lunch?" I ask, already knowing the answer
"Always" Fred jokes, taking my hand in his
