chapter 13

"Keys? Magical keys?" I scoffed, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes." He replied with a straight but annoyed face.

"But it doesn't make any sense!" I fought.

"What more do you want Colette? I have explained everything to you and showed you my notebook." Bode said, rolling his eyes.

"I want proof." I said, sitting back onto his bed headboard.

"You literally walked in here and saw me with a key in my neck and then went down into my head."

"Yes but i want to see more." I said, smirking.

"Fine, let me just go and get another key from Tyler or Kinsey." He said.

I nodded and watched him leave his room.

Bode's pov

"Hey Kins." I said, entering her room without knocking.

"Bode, what do you want?" She asked, rolling her eyes at me and jumping off her bed.

"Can i have another key?" I asked, hopefully.

"No Bode. Your always playing around with the keys, it's getting annoying now, give them a break for once like me and Tyler, you know?"

"It's not me who wants them, it's Colette." I said, getting defensive.

"What do you mean Colette wants them? You told her about the keys?" She screamed, making me step back.

"Relax, she found out herself. I had no choice but to fill her in! What's the problem with her knowing anyways? It's not like you haven't told your friends and most people at school."

Kinsey huffed and we just stood there in silence for a minute until Kinsey moved and sat back on her bed, before speaking.

"There's nothing wrong with her knowing. I just wanted her to feel more comfortable here and settle in more before we told her something that could potentially change her whole view of us and the house. I didn't want to scare her off straight away, Bo. That's all." She said, sounding more relaxed and quiet now.

"It's okay, i get it and i'm sorry." I said.

"You don't need to apologize." She said, taking my arms and hugging me softly.

"I better get back to Colette, she is probably wondering what's taking so long." I laughed.

"Yeah, mind if i come with? I need to tell her something." Kinsey said.

I nodded and we both headed back to my room.

Colette's pov

"Hey bode, what took you so long?" I asked as his small figure walked into the room.

"Kinsey did." he said and pointing to her as she also entered the room.

"Oh.. hey." I said.

"Hey." She smiled and spoke again. "Bode told me that you found out about the keys but that's not why i'm here."

"Yeah.. did you want to tell me something?" I questioned.

"Yeah.. um you remember Zadie right?" She asked.

"Yes, of course i do. Why??" I raised my eyebrow.

"Well she texted me and asked if maybe you wanted to hang with her tonight. I am going out with Gabe so i won't be there but she just wants to get to know you." Kinsey smiled.

"Oh.. yeah, yeah sure." I smiled back.

"Great so i'll tell her you will meet her at 8?" Kinsey laughed.

"Yeah okay." I laughed back and nodded.

"What about the keys? It's 8 in 1 hour and 30 minutes!" Bode preached.

"Not today Bode, i told you to give them a break, Colette can see the keys another day." Kinsey said, looking at me for my approval.

I nodded.

- 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙥 -

I had to come back to my house to get some extra clothes to bring back to key house, as i was running out and i needed to change my outfit for going out with Zadie. I was alone in this house and i didn't even have time to settle in when we first moved so it all felt really unfamiliar.

Once i had gotten changed into my new outfit, i stuffed my bag with a bunch of other clothes for the next few days and then i made my way down the stairs. I left the house and locked the door before walking back down the street and to the address that Kinsey had told me to go to.

I didn't like walking in the dark alone, especially in a place i didn't know well enough yet. But i just had to deal with it.
