It was the next morning and i could already tell i had, had the worst nights sleep one could imagine. My body was sore and Esdeath had already left, her side of the bed nest and tidy. Her side was cold which indicated she had been gone for a while, where could she have gone so early?
My eyes were sore and i had to pry them open numerous times. I thought to myself maybe it would be best if i just went back to bed however everytime i attempted to sleep once again i was woken up by a loud banging outside of the door. It didn't go away. As the minutes went by i grew more and more impatient and decided i'd see for myself what was going on.

There wasn't anything going on outside not that i could see everything threw the tiny gap that was the keyhole. I noticed that the door had been left unlocked again and it made me wonder maybe she was purposefully doing this and i would walk into a trap. Another thing that i had noticed was i hadn't received my usual oats for breakfast, what was that about? I could smell something amazing coming from the opposite direction and the usual pitch black hallway had been lit with candles that almost motioned for me to follow and so i did. It lead to a large room that had a massive platter of food spread out and at the head of the table she was sat there.
"i've been expecting" she sounded like the stereotypical villain you'd get in stories that i had read.
"waiting for little old me?"i decided to act innocent like i hadn't just intended to sneak into the mansions kitchen and steal whatever food i could find,"all this food and you choose to sit by yourself"
She cleared her throat and i knew the next words out of her mouth wasn't exactly words she wanted to say "well actually all of this food was for erm me and you" it was comical to see the powerful Esdeath flustered because of someone like me, i was the enemy after all.
"thank god i'm starving, you haven't done anything weird to any of this food have you?" judging by her facial expressions i knew i shouldn't have said that.
"i've done all of this because i want to discuss what it is exactly we are going to include in this duel of ours because i have come with my own end of this bargain, i want you that is if you lose to tell me the location of Night Raid so i can exterminate them" i felt uneasy and i could tell that i really was gambling everything however if i was to stand a chance i'd have to follow her orders.
"why do you want their hide out can't you just beat them in a fair fight instead of ambushing them" that's when that demonic grin of hers returned and i knew that she wasn't someone to play fair so what if she didn't play fair when we were to partake in our duel.
"judging by how you are acting i'm unsure whether i can't trust you to be fair in our duel" her eyes pricked at the sound of my words.
"fair? there is nothing fair about a duel where one wrong move will cost the lives of others and possibly ruin an entire system, being fair was never part of any agreement that i've agreed to" it was a wonder that i had ever fought she would comply with anything that i have ever said to her.
"thank you for the food" she looked up at me and smiled.
"what are the rules of the duel may i ask?" i hadn't thought this far ahead.
"well i think we should keep it simple and easy, we each get a sword one that does not allow the opponent to die at it's hands and we fight until one of us is no longer able to carry on" was that what she wanted to hear?
