This chapter is not gonna be what you expect :)

Hermione's Pov:

He loves me? No, No, that's not what he said... He said he could have loved me, but, what does that mean for now? How am I meant to act around him now?

Aghhh dammit Malfoy, you can't just say that and then leave, you absolute pain

"Miss Granger, are you alright dear?" looking up, I expect to see Madam walking over to me, but am instead met with brown eyes framed by a messy mop of red hair,

"Fred? Shouldn't you be in class?" sitting myself up further, Fred quickly walks over to me, moving the pillows behind my back so that I can comfortably lean on them,

"Ok, before that, I have three things to say" pulling a chair up to my bedside, he sits on the edge of his seat, he leans in closer to me, adjusting the blankets around me so that they are neat and even, "One, what on earth do you think you were doing out in the forest without telling anyone where you were Mines' (*Fred's nickname for her is Mine's, like Mione, but said like mines), I get that you might need to run, hell sprint away if you want, but let me know that you are safe" holding my hands in his, I can't help but notice how different they are from Draco's. Where Draco's hands were pale, cold and muscled, Fred's were almost total opposites, being tanned to soft gold, and not quite hot but not cold, and thin, but still big. His hands easily engulf my own, as he takes a shuddering breath and continues, "Two, mum wants you to stay for Christmas break, if you can that is. She misses you and said that even a day would be enough if that's all that you can give. If you can't, or you want to spend the time with your parents, that's fine, and she said she'll write to you" nodding my head silently, Madam comes in and sees, Fred.

Letting go of my hand, he rises and goes over to her, handing her a note, and exchanging a few hushed words, before she leaves and he comes back to me,

"Well come on, up you get. We have to go and get you changed" lifting me out of the bed, he sets me down on the ground and turns to make the bed, before saying a quick thank you to Madam over his shoulder, and dragging me out of the Wing. Once out of sight of the Madam, he grabs my hand and starts running,

"Giddy, wait" (*Freds middle name is Gideon, resulting in Hermione's nickname for him, 'Giddy') my tone dialled down by my laughter, he slows and turns to me, still walking, but spinning so that he is facing me and walking backwards,

"Yes Mine's?" a genuine smile, not laced with sadness, or with him turning to see that his brother isn't there to share it. But a wide smile that takes up his whole face and bright eyes, laughs still rippling out,

"You never said what number three was" having to run to keep up with him due to the difference in our size, I start huffing and puffing, so he pulls me up short to rest on a bench, before leaning on the wall next to me, smiling down at me,

"Isn't it obvious? I am taking you to play hooky" grabbing my hand and bending down, he sweeps me up so that I'm clinging to his back, my arms around his upper shoulder, and my legs hooked around his waist, he runs through the halls, spinning and jumping, laughing every time a squeal or shout. How we didn't get caught or in trouble, I'll never know.

                                                                                             ***

Walking into my common room, Fred gives a low, long whistle, and flops down on one of the couches,

"Ya know, I think that I should stop hanging out in the library and start chilling here" turning his head round to take in the living room and kitchen, he gets up and pulls my bag out from his cloak, "Theodore Nott had them, said that you left them at lunch, but you weren't at DADA, so he couldn't give them to you. The Professor told me to take them when she said to go and get you out of the Wing" nodding my head, I take my cloak, shoes and bag up into my room, signalling for Fred to follow.
