"Oh my God! No, no!" this can not be happening screamed Tresa.
She ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then hurried up the stairs back to Sally's dangling body. Tresa grabbed the rope and pulled her body close to the balcony. Tresa quickly cut Sally down from the railing. She pulled her up and over the rail, then laid down her almost breathless body. Tresa called the police with tears streaming down her face. She couldn't believe that Sally had tried to kill herself. Twenty minutes later, the cops and an ambulance arrived to rush Sally to the hospital. Tresa followed behind the ambulance. after reaching the hospital, Tresa sat in the waiting room. Waiting for the doctor to come out of the emergency room with an update on Sally, she was so upset that she called Lucas crying.
Lucas asked Tresa, "What's wrong? What happened
"It's Sally! She. She tried to hang herself! I didn't see any help signs, and she never said anything to me!"
Lucas said,
"I'm sorry you're going through this. Tresa, I'll be there shortly."
Tresa replied, "Okay, thank you so much, Lucas."
After hanging up the phone, the doctor walked into the lobby to meet with Tresa,
"Ms. Smith is stable in her room. You can see her now. She's in room 207."
Tresa walked down the hallway and into Sally's room.
"Hey, Sally. How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, Tresa. Where is he?"
"where is Who?" Sally
Lucas walked through the door just before Sally could answer Tresa's question. Sally quickly pulled the covers over her head.
Lucas said. "You don't have to hide from me, Sally. We all go through these tragic moments in our lives."
"I do not have a tragic moment shouted Sally Someone tried to murder me! Good thing you came when you did, Tresa."
"Your welcome, Sally. Tell me what the hell happened!"
"I remember walking into the house. I'm always the first to get home. Malcolm comes home 2 hours later. I went into the kitchen to get dinner started. My cell phone was in my hand, and I played a game while the steaks were thawing in the sink."
"Hold on, Sally. Let me ask you something. Did you notice anything out of place?"
"Yeah, the pantry door was open. I realized that I had never gone into the pantry, so I walked over to close it. A masked man ran out and started chasing me through the house. I ran into my room and got into the closet, and that's when I called Tresa crying. I didn't say anything because I didn't want them to hear me, but they did anyway. I remember getting hit in the head, and next thing I knew, I woke up here."
Lucas was writing down everything Sally said. Then he said,
"Are you sure that's all you remember? Yes, Lucas, that's all I can remember right now. My head is hurting so bad. Okay, I have a couple more questions, and then I will be done interrogating you, Sally. How did you know it was more than one person in the house if you didn't see but one person before you hid in the closet? I heard two people talking in the hallways. Was there anything else out of the ordinary? Out of place or missing?"
"To tell the truth, Lucas, I didn't see anything because my eye's where on my phone," Sally started to cry, she shouted out in a weak voice.
"It's my fault! I should've been paying attention."
"No, it's not. I, Lucas Black, sometimes don't pay attention. It happens to us all; besides, we never think things like this will happen in our home, so don't blame yourself. Be happy you are alive and have a friend that cares."
