I lay in my bed, phone at my side. I keep it on me in case Jamie calls or texts. She's gotten into texting now, and I think she might have a Tumblr too. I start to drift off, oh by the way my name is Mike Schmidt. I'm a devilishly handsome man. I'm so hot I'm banned in five countries. Well enough about me, lets get back to the story. So I was falling asleep in bed when I felt a slight tingle in the back of my throat. I got up to get a glass of water. By now it was 12:14. I found my way into the kitchen and flicked on a light. I closed my eyes to protect against the burning light before they adjust. I opened the cupboard and got out a glass. It had the words "minor league swimmers!" On it. My sister was always a water baby, me on the other hand, wasn't one. We would always stay at a pool hotel so Macy could swim. We always swam in the morning so I could spent that time at the continental breakfast.
I put the glass under the spout and twisted the tap. Cool water flowed out of it and started to fill the cup. Some bubbles formed where the water from the spout hit the water in the glass. I looked up at our window. I screamed. In the window was a face. It was a familiar face, one that had been a friend before I found the secret. It was Kenzie's face. I dropped the glass I was shacking so hard. It shattered, sending water and glass everywhere. Some chunks of glass went in my leg and foot. I shrank down onto the ground, not caring if I sat on glass or water. I hugged my knees to my chest and started to shake madly, it's so cold in this place!
"Mike?!" It was Macy. She stood in the hallway. "I'm coming." She started to walk towards me, her fluffy, pink slippers protected her feet. She reached me and put a hand on my shoulder. Macy crouched down. "What happened?" She said in a caring tone.
"I-I saw Kenzie."
"You mean, the human meet Kenzie? Or that one crazy girl you dated in middle school?"
"The meet one."
"I see." She said not questioning the fact that she was dead. Helping me up she cleared a path for me. I was led to the leather couch, but before I could lay down Macy picked off the pieces of glass the butt of my fuzzy pajama pants."Lay down please." She quietly asked.
"But wait, I need my phone!" I wondered it maybe Jamie could help with this.
"I'll go get it, just lay down." She left the room. I started to feel the pain in my legs. It was a burning sensation. No matter how I laid on the couch I felt them in me. A moment later Macy came back. She had my phone and some tweezers."It hurts!" I wined as she pulled the tiny, red pieces out of me.
"Last one!" She said. That cheered me up. With swiftness she grabbed it and pulled. It by far was the biggest piece. I screamed in agony as it was taken out.
"Gosh dude," my sister said amused at my pain. "it's not like you're giving birth!"
"My leg just have birth to glass!"
"Oh shut up pansy." My sister told me as she grabbed the gauze. Rapping it around my injured body parts. I was helped by Macy back into my room. She laid me down on the bed.
"Goodnight sweet prince." She said as she shut the lights off.I was laying on my back as it happened. My phone gave a familiar "ding ding" accompanied by a buzz. I picked it up off my nightstand and looked at the screen.
One new message from: Jamie
I opened up my phone and looked at my text messages. Sure enough there was a familiar blue dot by Jamie's conversation with me. I opened it up and saw what she had said.
You saw her too, right?
See what?
Kenzie
Yeah I saw her, so what?
She's back, and she's not happy.
And?
And if she's not happy then things get ugly.
How ugly?
Possessions, death, things flying across the room.
You can do that?
No, I'm a passive soul. Passive souls are the spirits of people that died, but didn't know they died, or didn't get closure at death. Aggressive souls are the souls that want revenge. They have unresolved anger. Aggressive souls can turn into demons, poltergeists, or even something worse.
Sounds like we need an exorcism!
Mike
Who ya gonna call?
Mike
GHOST BUSTERS!!
Mike I'm a ghost, I take offense to that.
Sorry.
It's ok, but an exorcism, it would work, but it might take me with it.
Waddya mean?
Mike, I basically live by you. I kinda inhabited your house.
So you saw?
Yes I saw your little glass accident, pansy. I also hear you talk about me in your sleep, it's quite cute.
😳oh......
It's alright. Just between you and me, I think you're cute. And I know what you think of me. It would work, if I was alive, but I'm not.
What says it wouldn't work?
I'm a ghost. You can't even see me!
Than I'll make it work.
What do you mean?
I will love you alive or dead. I have a sister. We can be together, the family will continue!
I'm sorry, I'm not saying no, just not now. Maybe later, I only just met you. Goodnight.
Goodnight.
I put down my phone and turned onto my side. What was happening. I am totally clueless. But what I didn't know, I was soon to find out.
