The early morning birds were chirping and the sun was slowly peaking out. It took that for Robyn to realize that she had been up all night trying her best to scrub out the paint on the car. She sheepishly rubbed her eyes.
"Have you been out here all night?" Beyoncé asked as she walked out the front door.
"Don't tell me I'm catching you doing the walk of shame"
"Oh please. You know I'm a good girl" she smirked.
"Yea right" Robyn could barely keep her eyes open while she was talking to her. She stumbled over a little, losing her balance. Beyoncé quickly made her way to her.
"Robyn you can't push yourself like this. I'm taking you home"
"I'm fine, I'm fine"
"I'm not letting you drive like this, come on" she held Robyn by the waist as she wrapped her arm around her shoulder.
"Where are you staying?" She asked.
It took her a while to understand the directions Robyn gave her but once she got it, she laid her out in the backseat so she could rest while she drove to the motel.
She didn't like the fact that Robyn was staying in a busted down motel room to begin with. She would offer her place but.. given the circumstances, that might not be the best idea.
Beyoncé was doing her best to hold Robyn up as they walked towards the bed.
"We're almost there" she assured Robyn, who was probably too tired to make out what she was saying.
She almost had her to the bed until Robyn lost her balance and brung Beyoncé down with her. She didn't bother to get up, she just let Robyn lay in her arms for the moment.
"You remember when we were young and you used to sneak me in your room?" Rob asked her as her eyes closed.
"Yea I remember. I remember all of it"
Robyn smiled with her eyes still closed. "Those were the days. You miss those days?"
"You gotta get some sleep Robyn" Beyoncé said while caressing her cheek. "Get some sleep" she said softly. Robyn buried herself inside Beyoncé's arms. It's the closet she's felt to her since she got back home.
"I don't like sleeping. Cause everytime I wake up, you're not next to me"
Beyoncé's heart dropped. Why did she have to break her heart? Why couldn't she just tell her that she didn't want her to enlist.
"Shh. Don't say anything else, okay?" She lightly brushed her hair until she fell asleep.
She didn't wanna hear Robyn say the words because that would force her to admit that the feelings that they had for each other never went away. And she wasn't ready to admit that.
"I'll see you later" she whispered as she left.
••••
Robyn woke up about 6 hours later. She was already 3 hours late for work. She shot up out of bed and hurried to ready herself for work.
She doesn't even remember how she got here. The last she checked she was at juniors. Either way, she had to go back over there to get the squad car.
She looked at the car and sighed. It still had a very visible K 12 on it. She drove to the precinct and she heard small laughs as she walked in. Everyone here took her as a joke. She shook her head as she walked to the bosses office. Why did she want this job so much anyway?
"You're late" Sargent said disappointedly.
"Sorry about that. I was up all night trying to scrub out the paint"
