Cadence is an 18-year-old high school graduate that is planning on attending Arizona State University in the fall. Still, for now, she is enjoying her summer with her friend Ramai, who's 19 and attending ASU. She's also a big fan of Tom Hiddleston...
I never said I was rich, but I'm not broke either. I never said I was the prettiest bitch, but I'm far from ugly. I never said I had it all, but I have enough. And I never said I could win everything, but bitch I'm not losing anything.
"Jay, I'm going for a run!" I yelled from the door of the house in one of my favorite running outfits.
"Do you have your gun in case you run into something dangerous, Baby Girl?" Jay yelled back popping his head from the behind the refrigerator door.
"Yes, I do!" I yelled in response closing the door behind me as I headed towards the fields we put the horses out to pasture in.
Tom and Ramai were still unpacking after the lunch we had, so I was going for my run on my own. My SIG P238 .380 ACP was tucked into my camo hip holster, and my knife was tucked into my bra.
I had learned to never go anywhere without them and my phone after an incident some time ago. Every year I'd gone to Jay's for the summer to earn some extra cash. The first year I'd gone, Jay decided to buy my SIG and a knife to protect me since I liked to go for runs by myself. I always carried the weapons until once that year when all I had was my phone.

I had decided to go for a run down the road instead of on the property. I'd gotten down to the freeway and was on my way back when a truck full of drunk teenagers pulled up next to me. I knew I couldn't outrun them because let's face it, I'm not fast enough. I dialed Jay's number, and once I heard him pick up, I spoke. I asked them what they wanted, and it escalated from there. Before they could hurt me, Jay came whipping down the road in the truck. Once they saw Jay's sniper rifle, they bolted. I got an earful, and I've never forgotten to bring them even on the ranch since then. After the incident, I'd started learning to fight, and thus my boxing career started.
When I finally came out of my thoughts, I realized I was pretty far into the fields, and the sun was starting to set. I had probably been running for about thirty minutes and with how tired I was it would take me at least 45 minutes to get home.
"Shit! I need to stop getting so lost in my head!" I exclaimed to myself and started to head back drenched in sweat.
My phone started to ring in the pocket on the side of my bra, and when I pulled it out, I saw it was Ramai. Thank god!
"Hey," I answered a little out of breath as I slowly jogged back towards the house hoping one of them would come pick me up.
"Are you on your way back? It's getting pretty late, and Jay wanted to take us all into town for Gianna's," Ramai replied, ignoring that I was a little out of breath.
"Yeah, I'm on my way back, but I'm in the south field. Can one of you grab one of the ATVs and come get me?" I asked with a smile at knowing we were going to my favorite restaurant in town.
"Tom's on his way," Ramai replied with a smirk.
"How? He doesn't know the ranch like us!" I questioned in frustration.
