Riley's POV
I have just taken the chicken I was cooking for supper out of the oven when I hear someone knocking on the door.
"Can you get the door Addy?" I ask Addison who is drawing at the kitchen table. She doesn't say anything, but gets up and opens the door like she was told. I glance over my shoulder and see Damien. I put the chicken down and rush over to the door.
"Hey!" I say excitedly.
"Hi." Damien replies, looking down at Addison who was clinging onto my leg for dear life.
"Sorry, she's shy. Come in." I say, stepping out of the doorway as I try to pry Addison off of my leg.
"You remember Addison from last night, right?" I ask Damien. He smiles a little at her.
"Hi Addison." He says sweetly to her.
"Say hi honey." I urge.
"Hi." She mumbles.
"Well, supper's ready so you came just in time." I tell Damien with a little giggle. Addison runs into the kitchen. I go to follow her, but Damien grabs my arm and hauls me back.
"What?" I ask. Without a warning, he gives me a kiss on the lips. I giggle as we pull apart.
"What was that for?" I ask.
"Nothing. I just wanted to do that since I got here. Just not in front of your kid." He replies.
There is something about him saying 'your kid' that doesn't sit well with me. If he wants to talk about Addison, I would rather him say her name, or at least refer to her as my daughter, instead of just saying 'your kid'.
"Well, we should get supper now, shall we?" I ask. He smiles in response, wrapping an arm around my back as we walk to the kitchen together.
James's POV
I sit down in my living room with my supper, ready to eat. I haven't heard from Riley or Addison all day, which I find really odd. But when I look out the window and to Riley's, I see why.
They look like a family. If I was a complete stranger looking in, I would have guessed that they were.
Damien sits in the middle of the Riley and Addison. He says something, and they all laugh. The way Riley smiles at him is way that she used to smile at me. It was the look of passion, and love. He says something to Addison and she laughs.
That's when I realize that I'm not only loosing Riley to Damien, but I'm loosing Addison too.
