Wei Ying ran for what seemed an eternity before coming to a stop to catch his breath. He stood there for a while before feeling a hand grab his arm tightly.
He stood still and heard a familiar voice, "Wei Ying...?"
The said man turned around and saw him. The one who stole his heart. "Hanguang Jun."
Wangji looked expressionless but his eyes told a completely different story. He looked conflicted in how he felt about being called this by the man who used to call him most intimately.
   "Was it you?" Wangji asked.
"Who killed the Wens? Yes," Wei Ying said.
Wangji looked at the man's dizi, "With...?"
  "Demonic Cultivation."
The man in white froze and his eyes widened slightly. He frowned, "That isn't right, why did you stop using your sword?"
"I got bored," Wei Ying said calmly.
"This will damage your temperament and your heart," Wangji persisted.
"I know my limits," Wei Ying smiled and tilted his head, almost threatening.
   Wangji grew furious, "Wei Wuxian!"
"Lan Wangji," the man replied ever so calmly.
Silence filled the air. Wangji could feel his heart breaking and he began to tremble.
Not wanting Wei Ying to notice he let go of the man, "Come back to Gusu with me, they can help you pick up your sword again."
"Go back with you?" Wei Ying scoffed, "To the place where there are 3000 rules? No thank you. I prefer someplace like Yiling."
"What about you brother and your sister?"
Wei Ying stiffened, "They can visit me." He bowed his head slightly before turned heel and walking away.
"You do know that this will change everything," Wangji said behind him.
"I know, and I'm willing to deal with that," Wei Ying said.
Wangji couldn't bear it any longer. He flicked his sleeve before turning around and storming away.
Wei Ying took a deep breath after the man left before continuing his way back home.

A few days had passed and he was in Yiling town buying a few gifts for his friends when he heard a small cry. He turned and saw a little boy, about the age of 4, being pushed to the ground by a man.
Wei Ying frowned before walking over, "Hey! Leave him alone!"
The man turned around, "Who are you? This isn't your business!"
"I said leave him alone," Wei Ying said.
The man scoffed and opened his mouth to speak but stopped when he saw a red tassel on a dizi, hanging on his waist. "You-you're-"
"Wei Wuxian," he replied with a smile. "Now scram!"
The man bowed and scrambled away in fear.
Wei Ying tsked before squatting down to the boy's height, "Are you alright?"
The boy nodded, "I'm alright, thank you sir!" He bowed respectfully.
"No worries, where are your parents?" Wei Ying asked.
"My mom is over there," the boy pointed towards an alley.
"Okay, let's go then," Wei Ying stood up and walked with the boy towards the alley.
Once they arrived, the boy called out, "Mama!"
"Bingwen!" A woman's voice replied. Wei Ying turned around and saw someone he never thought he would see again.
"Wen Qing?"
The woman looked up at him, "Wei Wuxian?"
"Mama! He saved me from an old wrinkly man!" Bingwen exclaimed.
Wen Qing kept looking at Wei Ying, "What are you doing here?"
"I live here in Yiling," Wei Ying replied. "What about you? What are you doing here?"
"I ran away from Wen Chao," she said quietly. She then turned to her son, "Go play with your sister."
The boy nodded before running off.
Wen Qing stood up and said, "You said you lived here, what do you mean by that?"
"You don't know? I'm the clan leader," Wei Ying smiled.
The woman's eyes widened, "I thought that was all a lie."
Wei Ying shrugged, "I'm sure a lot of people thought so. Anyways, you said you ran away from Wen Chao, what happened?"
Wen Qing looked down a bit uncomfortable, "He started threatening me with Wen Ning more."
"Where is he now?" Wei Ying asked.
"He suffered a few injuries, I'm trying to help him but nothing I do is working," Wen Qing sighed.
Wei Ying looked at her, "Maybe I could help?"
"You aren't a doctor, what do you know?" Wen Qing said.
"I'm not a doctor, that's for sure, but I do know a few tricks," Wei Ying said.
Wen Qing scoffed, "What tricks? Demonic cultivation tricks?"
"Hey! They actually work," Wei Ying pouted causing Wen Qing to roll her eyes.
"I'll let you try, only because I can't do anything," Wen Qing said finally.
Wei Ying smiled, "Great."
The two went to an old house where Wen Qing led the man to a room. Wen Ning was laying on a bed unconscious, he looked pale and he had multiple wounds on him.
Wei Ying checked his pulse before looking up, "We should take him somewhere safer."
  "Where?" Wen Qing asked.
"I can take him with me, I have some more space and equipment there," Wei Ying said.
  "Do you live alone?"
"Of course not! I live with my uncle and his lovers!" Wei Ying picked up Wen Ning and placed him on his back, "Let's go."
The two walked to the mansion where Wei Ying lived and knocked on the door, "Uncle! It's me!"
The door opened to Xue Yang, "Oh your back, who is thi-?" He stopped when he recognized Wen Qing, "You...you're Wen Qing, right?"
"What are you doing here?" Wen Qing asked sharply.
"Ah-do you two know each other?" Wei Ying asked.
"Of course I do, he used to work for Wen Ruohan," Wen Qing said.
"Oh, that's right. Well don't worry, he's a good person," Wei Ying said. He looked at Xue Yang, "Can you let us in? Her brother's hurt."
Xue Yang opened the door, "Come in."
"Thanks."
