6 years later~ present time

I stormed back to my room and flopped on my bed. Gah! Why won't anyone believe me?! I saw the house crack! There's no way I imagined it. It was too real and scary for my brain to think of.

I nearly ruined Antonio's ceremony, just like I did with mine... Abuela looked so mad...

I changed out of my day clothes and into my pajamas. I tossed and turned, not able to sleep. The nights events were circling through my mind.

I was just standing there and the tiles started breaking! They spread to the walls, and had almost gotten to the candle when they disappeared. But I saw the flame flicker; it almost went out!

I was slightly trying to convince myself the cracks were a hallucination, that I just made it up, but I couldn't. I definitely saw the candle falter- I think it's losing its power. I think it's fading...

That night I went to the roof and saw Abuela in the window. She was talking to her locket that had Abuelo's picture in it. Asking it for help.

"She is so much like him sometimes Pedro.. I wish I never asked him to... maybe he'd be here now." She stepped away from her window and the candle. I think she was talking about me and Papa...

It was then I realized, I had to save the miracle. No matter what. But... how?

"...I felt... weak." My prima Luisa said, squeezing me tighter. She was one of the only ones who wasn't that mean to me when I was little, still didn't say anything to the others though. Then again, I didn't know this pressure she was under all this time.

"Wh-what?!" I mumbled against her embrace.

"Luisa! The donkeys!" A town person called out. She let go of me.

"On it!" She replied, picking up a donkey again.

"Wait, wait, wait! What do you mean? What do you think's hurting the magic?"

"Don't know. But I heard the grownups once, before Tio Bruno left, he had like some- terrible vision about it.."

"Papa...?" I mumbled quietly, Luisa didn't hear me as she picked up another donkey. "What was in his vision?!"

"No one knows. They never found it. But if something's wrong with the magic, start with Bruno's tower. Find that vision." She picked all of the donkeys up and walked away.

"Wait- how do you find a vision?!" I called out after her. "What am I even looking for?!"

"If you find it, you'll know. But be careful, that place is off limits for a reason." I looked back towards the house, at Bruno's tower. I needed to do this. I needed to save the family.

"Never should've brought up Bruno!!" I said as I put the last peice of the vision into the rest. It was me, in front of the house, which had huge cracks all over it. Just like how it looked at Antonio's ceremony. What did this mean? Would I be the reason the house broke? Was this the reason I didn't get a gift? Because the house knew I would end it?

"Hey, Miraboo? Are you rea-?" Tio Augustine came into the room to come get me for dinner. Something I was not expecting.

"Tio! Haha- uh- what's up?" I moved to try and hide the vision, the chest of drawers moving slightly behind me to help. He walked over to me, staring blankly at the vision. Which I was doing a great job at hiding. I then explained everything, the candle, Luisa, the vision. He started grabbing the vision shards and stuffing them in his pocket.

He began saying how "no one has to know," and "don't tell anyone," and "Abuela wants tonight to be perfect." Then, we were about to leave, he had his hands on my shoulders, and the door creaked open slightly. We saw Dolores on the other side of the house. She squeaked as we stared at her.

"I know." She said. Tio and I looked at eachother slightly, knowing she would never be able to keep this kind of a secret.

During dinner, I tried to keep her quiet by staring at her, death stare. I look away for a split second, turn back, and see her whispering the secret to Camilo. After that, the house went haywire.

Luisa could barely lift a single thing, I ruined the proposal, Mariano now had a broken nose, and Isa hated me even more than she already did.

This would be a long night.
