Our photos were instantly snapped and everyone was watching as George then set me down.
The other guys exited the stage and walked down from where they were most of the night by their instruments. Models and other personnel there this evening flocked to them and barely let them walk anywhere and then George whisked me away backstage where Brian was waiting by a back door.
"Was that a diversion?" I asked him.
"Very much so," he said, "they will be okay, and your parents and Jenna are meeting us back here shortly."
We didn't wait long and they hurried back to us where we all then jumped into a car and were driven home.
When we first exited London I could see the newly unveiled signs and billboards with my name and face and I was instantly proud; I made it.
We caught up and all talked the whole ride and then I was very excited to bring them inside to see our home.
"Before everyone arrives," George said of the little party that was to come, "Lauren and I have some news to share."
My heart skipped a beat, I was worried my parents would stop being excited about this once they found out I was going to marry George.
"Are congratulations in order?" My dad asked us and was quickly interrupted by Jenna shrieking in excitement as she realized what the news was.
"You're getting married!!!" She guessed correctly and jumped up and down with me.
George stood there smiling and then I saw him hugging my mom and shaking my Dads hand. He really must have gotten my parents to fall for him if they were okay with this. I thought about how George thought of literally everything to make this special for me and probably asked my dads permission or at least told him of our plans.
Suddenly everything was just so perfect and I was hoping this feeling would never end.
"George here is definitely a keeper," my dad said proudly, "I gave him my blessing and I was right to do so, I can see that you are happy."
Then I began to cry and George held me tight. He's seen me cry more times than I can even count and he's still so patient each time.
Soon after, the other men and their wives and girlfriends arrived and we again shared the news. Everyone was so happy for us and no one else thought it was too soon. They saw that we needed each other in life and approved fully of our relationship.
"When are you tying the knot?" Paul asked us as John was acting like a clown in the corner and had everyone else's attention.
"We have to before she's sent back to the states," George spoke and Paul nodded, he now understood why this was so fast.
"Well then, why wait?" He asked "let's start planning a bachelor party."
"No no," George said, "I know your idea of a bachelor party would include things my fiancé here would not appreciate."
"Oh, George," I said smiling, "let Paul plan whatever he wants, it can't be that bad?"
Both men began to laugh hysterically and then we were interrupted by John forcing them and all the other guys at the party into the studio for some cigars.
That left all the women to the kitchen where we sat around the island drinking tea and talking about George and I.
"This is an engagement party of sorts, is it not?" Cynthia said "finally I'm not going to be the only Beatle wife!"
"When are you going to get married?" Jenna asked, "I mean I don't think I'm traveling back home any time soon but I want to be here for the wedding."
"We want it to be small," I said knowing George would agree, "I don't think it will be a big wedding."
"Well I want to be here for whatever it is," my mom then added and I walked over to her and hugged her knowing that I wanted that more than anything. I thought briefly about how my dad was in the studio smoking a cigar with my fiancé and his bandmates.
"I don't get why you want to marry so fast," Paul's girlfriend Jane then said, "you're not pregnant are you?"
"Jane!" Maureen said shocked that she would ask that.
Everyone's eyes were on me and I quickly shot that down.
"No," I said, "not only are we madly in love but if we don't marry each other then I can't stay here in England. It would be dreadful to be apart from him."
Suddenly George walked back out and into the kitchen.
"Babe," he said in front of me and the other women. He walked up to me and put his arms around me from behind.
"Yes, George?" I said smiling.
"The guys and I are all in agreement that we should get married as soon as possible," he kissed my neck.
"So are we!" Jenna said happily, "it doesn't have to be big but I will plan every last detail for you."
"I'm not against it," I said reaching my head up behind to kiss him softly.
I later found out that my parents would be staying for a week. Jenna had no plans of leaving and I was happy to have her with us. I figured that if she wanted to stay with us and be my own personal assistant, I would not complain.
We stayed up practically all night planning a small ceremony for the following Friday once all of our guests left and my parents retired to their guest bedroom.
"You ladies going to get some sleep?" George came and sat beside me.
"We have 5 days to get a whole lot of things taken care of," Jenna said as if the answer to going to sleep was "no."
"I know, Jenna," George said, "and we're happy you're helping us but get some sleep and then we can figure things out tomorrow, it's been a long day."
I agreed but the truth was that having her here has brought some normalcy back to my life and I enjoyed it very much.
Jenna finally got the hint that George wanted to be alone with me and she excused herself to get to her guest bedroom and said she'd take care of whatever needed to be done and for me to not worry.
George then carried me to our bedroom and we collapsed into bed.
"Are you as exhausted as I am?" George asked. It was a quarter after 2 in the morning and we were just getting into bed.
"I'm sorry that I'm too tired to celebrate the amazing night we had," I smiled at him and he kissed the top of my head.
"5 days until you are Mrs George Harrison," he said happily as my eyes grew heavy and I drifted off to sleep.
....
I woke up to phone call after phone call from modeling agencies, management firms, magazines, photographers. Everyone wanted a piece of me and the front gate had lots of people looking to get in and give us free stuff to promote their products to the world. In addition to this new aspect of my career, the press was out there and calling looking for answers to how long George and I have been in a secret relationship.
All of a sudden our lives were going to be under a microscope.
Brian was at our home bright and early to help field all the phone calls and keep us from talking directly to the press. He wanted to protect the Beatle image and also our privacy.
"Brian," I said after a long morning and afternoon of business affairs, "thank you."
George and I, Jenna, and my parents were all exhausted after our long day of planning and acting like a tiny production team. Jenna did a lot of speaking on my behalf to the agencies that were calling and also was making phone calls to plan our small wedding on short notice.
We had no clue things would explode in this way the morning after the gala. Without Brian there with his security team to direct us and to help me make the right decisions I would have been completely lost.
"You're going to be George's wife and it's my job to protect him and manage his life," Brian responded, "you're now under my watch as well."
For that I was grateful.I decided on a modeling agency in London to represent me and I signed on to a few campaigns and magazine covers. Word was out that I was marrying George fairly quickly and the jobs were flying in. We would be leaving for a week long honeymoon together in Scotland two days after our wedding and when we returned work would be extremely busy for the both of us. George with the new album and I with my magazine shoots.
