"It got ugly. After I said I had to work on Christmas, he went straight to his room and wouldn't speak to me -for the rest of the night." Eddie explained, stirring his coffee, a frown on his face

Two weeks had gone by, Kate was recovering at a normal pace. Physically, her eye was almost healed, her bruises were fading,

Her wrist was still injured but it was healing well.

Mentally, she was sleeping better. Still having a nightmare or two, but not nearly as bad as they were. She hadn't had a ptsd attack since that one time, she had a few panic attacks but at least she could ease herself out of those.

So far the Christmas spirit was lacking spirit, no one seemed to feel as joyous this year, Eddie and Christopher more so, it being their first Christmas without Shannon.

Kate felt happier than she thought, Sam lingered in her mine. It was already the second Christmas and she found it impossible to believe how quick time was moving. But this year seemed different, even after everything that happened with Adam

"Mm. It's just new. He'll get over it." Hen reassured

"Abuela's bringing him to my aunt's. I know he's gonna have a great time. He just - last Christmas was... special. This one's harder."

"Uh-huh. Is that why you invited us all here?" Hen asked "Trying to cram in as much Christmas cheer between now and then?"

"Well, thought it'd be nice to bring the boys together for a playdate."

"All three of 'em." Hen joked, causing a small laughter

"How are you?" Eddie asked, "second Christmas without Sam"

"I feel okay, it's still weird but I've got Buck and this year just seems different"

"Can I spend Christmas with you and Kate?"

Christopher took the attention of the room, Kate looked at Eddie with a child like grin on her face; this was exactly what she needed, it's not like she was working right now

"I'm sorry, buddy, but we gonna be working on Christmas with-- with your dad."

"Stupid work" Christopher sighed

"What about me?" Kate asked, she walked over to  young boy and crouched down in front of him "how about Christmas with me and milo Hmm?"

"Can I?" He asked Eddie

"If it's okay with Kate"

"It is definitely okay with me" she smiled, she felt his small arms wrap around her, she chuckled and hugged him back.

The kids finished off their gingerbread houses, hen boxed up Dennys house and helped clean up their mess before leaving.

Kate walked into Eddie kitchen, a plate in her hand, it slipped out her grip, clanging in the kitchen. Kate took in a breath, exhaling a few seconds later; she brought her shaky hand to her mouth drinking some water. The faint sound of Adam yelling was heard in her ears. Her eyes blurring as she was caught in a daze.
