Chapter 0 2

Sophie
THE MID DAY SKY HAD cleared, all traces of the rainstorm that had taken over the sky vanished. The momentous occasion, worthy of celebration had at last arrived; it was July in Lolotus, and a Monday and it wasn't raining. The sky had become a clear blue, and a gentle breeze blew silky white clouds through the warm, summer air. Children laughed as they rode their bikes on the damp sidewalk. An elderly woman walked her dog, smiling happily at the cheerful people around her. The rainy, miserable day had become a nice day, and people were out making the most of it. Two loud, angry female voices drifted out of an open window at 293 Rose Lake Avenue, but no one paid them any mind. They could live with it. But Sophie McLane, well, that was up for debate.
"Why do you always wear that hideous outfit?" Cried fifteen year old Sophie.
Her brown eyebrows were pulled down, and her silver eyes were narrowed as she looked at her sister in disgust. Her upper lip was curled up, and her mouth slightly open, making her cupid bow lips look like a little 'o'. "Can't you wear something.. I don't know.. Better, for once?!" She practically screeched. Her nose wrinkled as she gave her half sister another once over. In front of her, her sister rolled her eyes, to which she responded with a roll of her eyes too. Two could play in that game. She thought.
Sophie tossed her silky, pearl blonde hair over her shoulder, and placed her hands on her hips, whilst glaring at Macy. Her younger half sister rolled her eyes again. "It's so disgusting!" Sophie continued. "Absolutely horrible!" Macy smirked. "Nope," Her younger sister responded, smiling evilly. "I will never stop wearing this outfit, so you can cry about it forever, but nothing will change my mind." Sophie felt as if her head would explode in annoyance. Her sister was so stupid!
Sophie sighed, taking a deep breath. Her best friend, Alina, had told her to do that when she was angry, and to count to ten.
"And anyways, can you even wear something other than a basic bitch barbie dress for once?!" replied Macy Carson.
Macy was glaring back at her sister, with an equal amount of hatred. She looked completely different from her older sister. While Sophie was pale, tall and willowy, Macy was tan, muscular and had bright red hair, which, in Sophie's opinion, was a ridiculous hair color.
Of course, her mother could pull it off, by Macy? Well, Macy, not so much. She had heard Macy's friend Anton say that Macy's hair 'sometimes looked like a burning fire at twilight and other times a blaze of hot inferno at dawn' but it was a completely absurd simile! Macy's hair didn't just go from very soft red, to very pale orange to strong red! Hair color didn't work that way! Anton was stupid too. Anyone who willingly hung out with Macy was stupid, actually.
"Of Course I can. The question really is, when will you be able to actually get some good fashion sense?" Macy glared at her intensely. "You say that as if having a good sense of fashion is the only thing that's important!" She bit out.
"It's not," Sophie replied, smirking. "Having a brain with common sense is even more important, and even less hard, but you can't even manage acquiring that!"
Macy cracked her knuckles. "At least I can do something other than sit and look pretty!" Macy shot back. "You're not that special, I can do that too," Sophie sneered. "How? By telling boys that-" Macy was cut off as the girl's mother came into the room. "Mairead, Sophia! You two are fighting again?" The angry voice of Mara Carson, the mother of Macy and Sophie, drifted towards the two young teenagers, as the woman herself appeared in the doorway. She only ever called her daughters by their real names when she was angry. Sophie gulped in fear. Yellow light from the hallway spilled around her, giving the Mara an ethereal glow. The bright light fell into the sunroom and their eyes, making the girls flinch simultaneously.
Mara had the same scarlet red hair as Macy, and the same height. Sophie was 5'9, and Macy was 5'7, the same height as Mara. Mara's physique and eyes, though, were very similar to Sophie's. The same willowy structure and silver-blue color as Sophie's.
"She started it!" They both exclaimed immediately, pointing their fingers at each other. Mara rubbed her eyes tiredly.
The girls fighting wasn't anything new. They had despised each other since the moment Macy was born, and it hadn't changed one bit over the years, fighting over everything, even as toddlers. She had tried to get them to get along but it was a lost cause; the girls didn't show any sign of liking one another at all.
"Just.. try to get along, ok?" Mara told them tiredly, and went to finish supper. As soon as she left, Macy shot her sister a dirty look. "Not gonna happen," she muttered and stormed out of her sister's room.
Two things were for certain -
Both of the sisters were stubborn,
And they were both determined to hate each other. Forever.
