 Chapter 1 1

Macy

MACY AND SOPHIE ANXIOUSLY
watched as Bella and Tempest fought. The magic in the air almost made it hard to breathe. Macy looked on in astonishment as the 10 year old twisted her hand at the monkey bars and it became a large orb of purple liquid. Her eyes watered as she watched the shard of water hit Bella, and almost lunged forward to help her, as the young girl recoiled in pain. Sophie grabbed her arm, but she too, looked upset.

"We have to go, Mace," She whispered. "Bella will be fine." Macy turned to her sister in shock.

"How can you say that?! The poor girl-"

"Isn't a poor girl. She can defend herself, you saw what she did to those monkey bars!"

"So? She's still a child! She needs help!"

"And how can we help her? Wave our little crowbar at them?"

Macy glared at her. "We need to help her!" "What we need to do is go!" The older girl exclaimed. "Besides, her mother wouldn't kill her!" Macy looked at her in bewilderment again. "Are you stupid?! Didn't you say you read about her in history books? Because if you did you'd know she's ruthless, and shows no one any mercy!" Sophie paused and bit her lip nervously. It was true. She had read that. "But Bella's her daughter," She said, sounding like she was trying to convince herself. "Skia wouldn't hurt her own daughter.." Macy sighed. She was conflicted, should they stay or should they go?

Just then they watched as Bella made an entire jungle gym into many tiny weapons and their decision was made. They ran as fast as they could, deciding to listen to Bella and headed to Illumination Street, which was the new name for Light Lane. Only people that had been living in LoLotus for more than 5 years still called it Light Lane. They ran as fast as they could, and in 10 minutes the two sisters had reached Cedar Route, the street parallel to Light Lane. They had crossed 'LakeTree Bakery' when Sophie grabbed Macy's arm, her long nails digging into Macy's skin. The younger girl yelped, jumping away from her sister.

"What the hell are you doing?!" She exclaimed, looking at a panting Sophie. Sophie didn't even bother to return a snarky comeback; even Macy could tell her older sister was exhausted.

"Can't... Go... Farther..." She said, gasping for air. Macy raised an eyebrow. "We ran only 1 and a half miles!" Macy bent down to face her sister. "Is running that much so hard for you? Really?" Sophie shook her head, not even seeming to care that she was being insulted. "Wow, I always knew you would be the first to die in a zombie apocalypse," Macy inquired thoughtfully. "Hah! I knew Liz was wrong! I'm the one going to survive the apocalypse!" She said happily. Macy always knew how to make light of the situation. Macy looked down at her sister as she groaned.

Macy always knew she was the one who knew how to make light of any situation. Macy looked down at her sister as she groaned. "This is not a zombie apocalypse!" Sophie exclaimed indignantly. Macy shrugged. "It's pretty close." She countered. Sophie looked up at her sister and glared at her. "I'm not going to die!!" She whispered-yelled; they didn't want the Esmerays to find them again. Still, she had a scared look on her face. Macy shrugged again and then smiled.
