As I stood at the door waiting for my brother I stare down at my phone. I've been seeing someone for a couple months now and it seems to be going pretty good. She's been helping me with my scars as they go across my face and can be rather uncomfortable. She's a nice girl. Out of my league really.

I look up from my phone to see my brother. "Took you long enough pipsqueak." He shook his head as he glared at me. "Let's just go. I have people to see." He pushes past me as we make our way to my truck.

Darrell has always been popular. His name is known around the whole school really. As for me, I am a loner. The type people run from and no one questions. Some say I'm a psychopath, others say I'm a sociopath. I mean I don't blame them. I'm not the nicest person.

Everyone has their own opinion of me. Even the teachers. I'm quiet and I'll sit in the back on my own. I keep to myself most of the time. Even the teachers tend to stray away from me.

We pull into the school parking lot and Darrell hops out before practically running into school. It's only the first day of my senior year and everyone is already staring. Darrell is a freshman this year. Our parents said I have to keep a eye on him as he's known to run his mouth.

"Finally Ren. What took you so long?" I turn to see Cole and Nova walking towards me. Cole is the only person to actually want to be my friend. After the accident everyone has stayed away besides him and now Nova. "I'm excited to finally get to spend all day with you." Cole rolls his eyes as Nova kissed my scars gently.

My freshman year a kid brought a knife to our school and tried to stab some of our classmates. When I rushed him he slashed my face real good, leaving a nasty scar that runs people away. I guess between the scars across my face and the rumors I almost killed him with my bare fists, people are to scared to talk to me.

"We're gonna be late for our first period. It's the last year of our schooling. Can we not be delinquents for once?" I say as Cole looks at me in seemingly disbelief. "You actually wanna go to class?" I practically ignore Cole's question as I begin to walk away.

I've been trying to set a better example since Darrell now goes to school with us. Our father sets a bad example as is, he doesn't need me making it any worse. Cole, Nova, and I all start walking to class as I notice Darrell looking confused.

"What is it Dare?" I said as I put my arm on his head like my own personal armrest. "I can't find my class and I'm completely lost." He sounded so frustrated it was pathetic. Pipsqueak needed my help. Again. I sigh and grab his paper, "Let's go little shit. Let's get you to class." I hand him his paper and begin our walk to his first period.

We get to his class and I rub his head, messing up his hair. "Now after class ask your teacher where your next class is at. They're more than happy to help you, Dare." He nods happily. "Thank you Remi." I give him a slight glare as I walk off and start heading to my own class.

I get to my class and my teacher looks at me with an unhappy look. "You're late Mr. Black." He sounded pissed but I didn't care. "My brother couldn't find his class and was lost. It's his first day. Cut me some slack." He nodded and I took my seat. And with that he began his lession.

Finally lunch rolls around and the three of us are sitting at our usual table as Darrell plops down besides Cole. "I made a friend!" Cole laughs as Nova rubs Darrell's back. "I hope they're nice because I don't feel like ripping someone apart today." I hardly look up from my phone as I smirk.

Sarah has been planning to come over tomorrow and I couldn't be happier. She wants to try and see just how much she can help with my scar. She's gonna bring me something to relieve the pain and help with some of the tightness I feel in my cheek area. God she's such a wonderful woman.

The lunch bell rings and Darrell looks more confused than a makeup artist in a mechanics shop. "Need help again?" I sigh as he carefully hands me his schedule. "Come on it's this way." He has some classes most freshman don't as he skipped a grade. The kid is smart. Annoying but smart. Hopefully the sophomores are nice to him.

We get to his class and he smiles at me. "Cut that out before I wipe that smile off your face for you." He immediately drops his smile. "Thank you Remi." I shoot him another glare before I watch him sit at his desk. "He looks like your father, Mr. Black." I sigh. "Don't remind me of the past, Mrs. Richson."

She walks to me with a sympathetic smile. "He clearly wants you to accept him. He's fourteen. He calls you Remi to try and get you to at least tolerate him. It's clear across his face." I look at her with a not so nice look.

"If he wants me to tolerate him he should stop calling me Remi. And why do we have to be so formal? You've watched me grow up." She shakes her head with a laugh. "Just because I was your mother's best friend doesn't mean I can treat you any different." She goes to pat me on the shoulder as I quickly give her a hug.

"Either way you will be my aunt. I hate formality. I'll see you later Aunt Holly." She rolls her eyes and laughs as I walk to my class. Today feels like it will never end. God I wish it would. Cole is supposed to be coming over after school today. Me and Cole have been best friends since middle school. We've always hung out at least once every 2 weeks.

Finally school is over and Darrell jumps in my truck. "Why did you hug Mrs Richson, Remi?" He asks with a baffled look in his face. "She was my mother's best friend. Me and her are on a first name basis and I call her my aunt. That's what she's always been to me." He gasps slightly. "She calls you Remi too?" He struggles to hold in his excitement.

I drive us home, ignoring his questions. He has always tried to get to know me as if we were best friends. He's my half brother. That's how he'll stay. His mother doesn't like me and I don't like her. I have no reason to want to try and form a close bond with him but I can't help but be nice to him. He's my little brother, half brother or not.

He jumps out the truck and practically runs inside. "Dad! Guess what!" He yells as I walk inside.
"What's up kiddo?" I try and stop Darrell but he slips away from me. "Remi knows Mrs. Richson. He called her Aunt Holly and hugged her!" Jennifer's eyes shoot to me then my father. "Holly? Like Amber's best friend Holly?"

I start to get a bit aggravated. "Is that a problem Jennifer?" She crosses her arms. "I don't understand why you have such a problem with me, Remington." I lean on both of my hands. "First off you can call me Ren. We've been over this many many times. I don't want you to call me Remington or Remi." She shifts in her seat clearly upset that my father didn't say anything.

"Secondly I don't have any real problem with you besides you thinking I'll start calling you mom like some lost puppy. I have a mom and you're not her." As I turn to walk away I hear Jennifer mumble something under her breath. "What was that?" I turn around madder than a taunted bull. "Remington don't." My father steps in front of me. "I said your mother is dead and has been for years. Why can't you accept that?" I practically see red.

Cole shows up right before I start screaming and my father shoos us away so we leave to go to my room. My father begins to yell at Jennifer as me and Cole spend the rest of the night in my room playing video games, talking, and just all and all having a great time. By the time he leaves it's dark out and I decide to skip dinner. I don't want to face that woman anyways. I lay down and quickly fall asleep. A peaceful end to a hectic night.
