My Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 5

"Sarah as in your girlfriend Sarah?" Nova finally wipes her mouth of drool. Sarah looks at me with an odd expression across her face. "For the last time she's not my girlfriend." I whip around to face Nova.

Nova is practically staring at Sarah like she's a lion looking at a fresh cut of meat. "Why don't we all go hangout at your house, Ren?" Cole pats my shoulder. Sarah smirks at the idea. "I think that's a great idea." She flashes Nova a quick wink and we watch as she looks down at the ground faster than the speed of light.

Darrell hops in my truck as Sarah climbs her way into the bed. Cole and Nova ride together as we make our way to the house. "Mom's not gonna be happy." I shrug off his comment. Jennifer can fuck off for all I care. Sarah is almost as tall as me, has an undercut, her hair dyed a dark reddish color, and dresses as though she's a man.

I call my father and tell him to get Jennifer out of the house as Sarah is coming over today and staying for the weekend. Apparently he had planned to take her out on Saturday for the weekend but said he'll push it a day forward as a "surprise for a lovely wife", lovely wife my ass.

We get to the house and luckily Jennifer and my father are gone. We all hop out of our vehicles and head inside. "Nova stop staring." Cole laughs as she starts smacking him. I roll my eyes as we make our way to my room. "Darrell go see if any of your friends can come over and spend the night. Dad and Jennifer are gonna be gone for the weekend."

He nods and happily runs off. "So that's the pipsqueak?" I nod as Sarah laughs a bit. Cole smiles and turns to make his way to the kitchen, "Me and Nova are gonna go get some drinks and snacks. Y'all go get the movies ready." I smile back and nod as me and Sarah start heading up to my room.

"So that girl, Nova, tell me about her." Sarah walks in my room and plops down on my bed as if she's been to my house a thousand times. "She's straight I think. She's never had a girlfriend but from the looks of it she'd like to have one now." I laugh and Sarah smirks. "Oh quit messing around. Tell me ABOUT her." She gets comfortable on my bed as I roll my eyes.

"She's 16. She has an older sister as well as brother. I thought she was straight but now I'm not sure. She's the baby of her family. Her older siblings are scary. Her parents are lovely people. And she's a childish wildcard girl." Sarah nods, taking it all in. "Oh and Cole was her boyfriend until about second period today." She looks at me.

Her eyes larger than the moon with a what the hell did you just say to me look on her face right as Nova and Cole walk into the room with multiple two liters of soda and some snacks. "Are we ready for movies?" Cole asks before nudging Nova. "Yeah. One of you pick." I sit down next to Sarah as she looks at me still shocked.

Cole puts a scary movie into the console and they quickly join us on the bed with popcorn. Sarah has never had a real relationship. They are either girls she's just messing around with or they only last a few weeks at best. She isn't good for Nova. She will just hurt her and Nova doesn't need that in her life.

Cole cuddles up to me and I see Nova move a bit closer to Sarah as the movie goes on. I've been watching them like a hawk. I know Sarah. Sarah likes to pick up new girls when she can just for fun. I refuse to let my friend go down like that.

Sarah puts her arm around Nova, watching as she turns bright red and begins to hide her face in her hands. I grit my teeth together, trying to hold my tongue. I'm protective over Nova as if she was my little sister. She's such a sweet girl and doesn't deserve to be played with as if she was a toy.

The movie ends and I get up, excusing myself before walking out the room. I shoot Sarah a quick text and she soon follows. I lead her outside, forgetting my bedroom window overlooks the backyard. "What are you doing?" She looks at me confused. "I don't understand your question, Ren." I scoff and roll my eyes.

"I know you Sarah. You toy with girls. They're a game to you. I will NOT let you play with Nova's feelings. She's like a sister to me." Sarah crosses her arms. "I like her. She seems sweet and she's nothing like the girls I toy around with Remington." I laugh a bit.

"She's exactly like the girls you toy around with. Easy. Gullible. Kind hearted. I won't let you toy with her and break her heart Sarah." I cross my arms right back and glare at her slightly. She lets out a soft sigh. "Ren she's sweet. I'm considering this one." I manage to keep my composure.

"Consider? Like you're buying a damn car? Consider what? Toying with her feelings? Fucking her any chance you get?" You could practically hear a pen drop as her face turned more and more red with anger, not wanting to admit what's on her mind. "Say it Sarah!" I practically yell at her.

"I'm considering dating her! I want to get to know her so I can ask her out Remington! She's kind! Sweet! She would do me some good Remi! She's what I need. I'm considering actually dating her. Not to toy with her." My jaw drops to the floor. "You? Commitment? You're joking!" She hits me upside the head.

"I like this one Ren. She's not overly touchy, hell she's scared to touch me practically. I wanna get to know her. I think me and her would do some good for each other." I take a deep breath. "If you hurt her, I'll kill you." She laughs softly. "I know you will, lover boy."

We look up to catch Cole and Nova attempting to sneakily peak out my window. We laugh as they jump away from the window. "Well let's head back inside before they start to think we're ripping each other apart." I laugh softly as she puts her arm over my shoulder.
