Sokka's POV

After our picnic, everything was clear and good. That weird tension was gone and we were both happy again. And since then, we've been friendly in the halls. We greet each other and sometimes talk. I realized he had a good point, even if we can't tell people we're dating, we can at least be friends in public.

I was happy, he was happy, everything was perfect. No, it is perfect. "Abano, are you gonna throw or what!?", Coach yelled. I shook my head. Thinking about my lover boy got me out of focus. I threw a perfect pitch and let the practice go by. Remembering that after practice, Zuko is gonna come over. My heart fluttered as I drank some water and began to head to the showers when Austin stopped me.

Everything in me tried to keep me from knocking his lights out. After everything with Zuko's dad, I did not want to talk to him. "So you know how homecoming is tomorrow?", he said. I nod. I'm going with Zuko, technically as far as everyone knows I'm going alone buttt. "And you know how Zuko beat me up right?", he says. I slap my forehead in my mind, he's forgetting I was in the bathroom where Zuko supposedly beat him up. Trying not to roll my eyes and resisting the urge to walk away I nod.

"Well me, Toby and Vanessa are planing something on him", he says. He laughs evilly. "Oh..what are you doing exactly?", I ask. If he says, I'll have to tell Zuko. "Yeah, right. I've seen you getting all buddy, buddy with him. I just want you to know that something's going down during the dance", he walks off and laughs one more time.

I have to warn Zuko. As I quickly shower and change I run to find him. When I bump into Suki. "Oh hey Sokka..hey I was wondering, do you want to go to homecoming with me?", he says. Sokka tries to go around her but she won't let him. "Come on, I really like you and I thought you might really like me but I don't know anymore so I have to ask", she crosses her arms.

In a desperate attempt to leave I say, "Suki I'm sorry but I have a boyfriend". Her eyes go wide, "Ohhh, I'm sorry. But I'm assuming no one else knows, I swear I won't tell", she gives me a genuine smile. Maybe I misjudged her..yeah I definitely misjudged her. I have her a small hug, "Thanks Suki, that means a lot". She hugs me back and finally let's me go.

I dash off, I'm not too late to catch up with him yet. "Woah, woah there Mr. Abano". I know that voice and once again, everything in me is trying not to him Dean Brand. I stop. What else can I do? He's my principal. "Mr. Abano, I've noticed that in the last few days, you've gotten very close to my son, Zuko is that right?" "Um yes sir, he's always alone, I wanted to be his friend", I answer. Hopefully I sound like I'm telling the truth. "I see, but you should know, I don't like it. And I know you have plans this afternoon, so let me tell you something, if you meet him, you're off the baseball team", he says.

He  just walks away after that, as if he didn't threaten me for a stupid ass reason . Okay, so I can't hang out with him to tell him. That's fine, I can just text him. I pull out my phone.

Zuko: Hey Sokka, sorry I can't hang out like we planned, I'm grounded. I also and getting my phone taken away. So I'll see you at Homecoming

Oh shit. Oh please, please don't let it be that bad. I mean they're a bunch of idiots, how bad could it possibly be? Right? No, it doesn't matter how bad it is, Zuko needs to know that something might happen. Baseball be damned, I have to warn him.

{That Night}

I quietly climb the tree that's right in front of Zuko's window. I knock on the window twice, and then to my horror, Dean Brand opens it. "Mr. Abano, my instructions were very clear. Try to see my son, you're off the baseball team", his voice is sickly sweet at he tells me. "Please, I need to tell him something", I beg. He sighs, "Fine, I will deliver the message and let you off with a week's worth of detention." Wow, I can't believe that worked. Although he's probably only doing this because he needs a pitcher and our school hasn't won a championship since the 80's.

"Tell him that Austin, Toby and Vanessa are planning something homecoming night, I don't know what it is but something's gonna happen. And maybe get on to them about it too", I say. He nods and shuts the window. A smile on my face as I climb down and go home. Delighted that not only did I warn him, but I also get to stay in the team. I still hate him for everything he's down to Zuko but at least he was nice enough to do this.

3rd Person POV

Ozai opened the window and watched as Sokka ran off. Once the boy was out of sight, he closed the window. When he turned around, he say his son. "What are you doing in my room?" "I was just checking something", he lies. "I thought I heard you talking to someone.." "Must be your imagination. Now I'm gonna leave, oh and..I hope you have fun at Homecoming tomorrow". Zuko stared as his father left, confused as to what he had meant.
