Chapter 18: Truth

Liana's at the Talon reading a pamphlet about Paris. Clark comes in and says, "Liana, hope I'm not interrupting." Liana closes the pamphlet and hides it under a menu and says, "No, I'm just finishing up with the morning rush. I haven't seen you around the last few days." Clark says, "I figured after our last conversation you could use some space." Liana says, "I was thinking the same thing, but we don't seem to be very good at that." Clark says, "It's hard to make yourself scarce in Smallville. Actually, I'm here because of Chloe. Have you noticed anything different about her?" Liana says, "I don't wanna cross the roommate boundaries, but this guy called for her yesterday when she was out. An old co-worker of her dad's." Clark says, "From LuthorCorp?" Liana says, "Yeah, and he sounded really upset. He was wondering if she had taken his security card." Clark says, "Klepto Chloe? That doesn't sound like her." Liana says, "He said that whoever stole it broke into a lab at the plant two nights ago."

The next day, Liana's working at the Talon. Liana walks up to Chloe and Chloe says, "Was it just me or did I completely clear out the lunch crowd?" Liana says, "No, it was you. Ever since you've turned the "Torch" into your own personal gossip column, no one can stand being around you." Chloe smiles and says, "Yeah, well, at least you're still talking to me, right?" Liana says, "For now." Chloe says, "Okay." Liana walks away from Chloe and Chloe follows her and says, "What's that about?" Liana says, "I'm going to Paris for the whole summer." Chloe says, "Wow. I guess I'm out of the loop. When did you decide this?" Liana says, "I've been thinking about it for a while now. I just, these past few months have been crazy, and I just need a break from Smallville." Chloe says, "Is it just Smallville or is it Clark?" Liana sighs and says, "Both. I have been so hung up on him, that I need to move on, and I think going somewhere far away is what I need." Chloe nods and says, "Okay. Is there something else?" Liana says, "I have powers." Chloe blinks her eyes and says, "What? What do you mean you have powers?" Liana makes sure no one's looking and freezes some flowers and Chloe is shocked and says, "Whoa. I would have never thought you would have powers." Liana says, "Yeah. I've had them ever since the meteor shower." Chloe says, "How come you never told me?" Liana softly says, "I was afraid you'd think I was a freak. I have seen that other people with powers like mine are dangerous, that's why Nell told me not to tell anyone." Chloe nods in understanding and softly says, "I'm sorry, you felt like you couldn't tell me. I can understand why you didn't tell me. If I, was you, I would be in the same position." Liana softly smiles and says, "I guess there is one good thing that came out of telling you. I don't have to keep my secret away from my best friend anymore." Liana gives Chloe a big hug and Chloe returns the hug with a smile and says, "Yeah. Oh, and I promise I won't tell anyone." Liana pulls away from the hug and looks at Chloe with a smile and says, "I know. I trust you." Chloe smiles feeling good that Liana trusts her with her big secret.

The next day, Liana is coming from down the stairs at the Talon and sees Clark and says, "Clark, thanks for coming by." Clark says, "Is everything okay? I haven't gotten many phone messages from you lately." Liana says, "Yeah, umm... I've been wanting to show you this." Liana gives Clark the Paris pamphlet and Clark says, "Paris?" Liana says, "Yeah, I plan on going." Clark says, "For how long?" Liana says, "The whole summer." Clark says, "Liana, if this is because of me--" Liana says, "A little is because of you, but most of it is because of everything that has happened these past few months. I'm beginning to feel like I need a fresh start." Clark says, "I get it that. Three months is just a long time." Liana says, "I know, but I just need to move on from everything that's happen to me." Clark nods a little disappointed she's leaving for the summer.



Note: I know Lana goes to Paris for school, but I just wanted Liana to go for the summer.
