Chapter 22: Covenant

Liana goes to see Clark. Liana gets out her car and walks up to him and Clark says, "I thought you'd be packing." Liana says, "Well, if I squeeze anything else into my suitcase, I think it will explode." Clark says, "So, when are you talking off?" Liana says, "Well, I have to be at the airport by noon tomorrow. Yeah, that's-that's sort of why I'm here. Was wondering if you would mind being my super shuttle." Clark says, "Sure." Liana says, "I know it's been a strange year, but I hate leaving with the feeling that things aren't settled between us." Clark says, "Liana, when I said I want you to be happy, I--" Liana cuts Clark off and says, "When you invited me over the other night and you had something important to tell me that wasn't it, was it? Clark, if you have something to say to me say it before I leave." Liana looks behind Clark and Clark says, "Liana." Liana says, "Who's that?" Clark says, "My cousin." Liana says, "You've never mentioned her before. Where's she from?" Clark says, "Far away. California." Liana says, "Well, you know, if you've, if you've got company I should, um I should find a ride from someone else." As Liana walks to her car, Clark says, "Liana, even though it's gonna be hard to see you go I wanna be there for you." Liana smiles and gets into her car and Clark says, "We'll talk in the car? Tomorrow?" Liana smiles nods with a smile and drives away.

The next day, it's the day Liana's leaving for Paris. Since Clark didn't show up to take her to the shuttle, Lana takes her sister to the airport. As they're walking to get inside the airport Liana sees Lex and smiles and says, "Lex." Lex says, "I just wanted to say bon voyage." Liana says, "Well, shouldn't you be at the courthouse?" Lex says, "My father can wait." Liana smiles and says, "I don't know what I did to deserve such a great friend, but I'm glad that you came into my life." Lex says, "Maybe I'll bump into you on the Champs-Elysees." Liana softly smiles and says, "Are you gonna be in Paris?" Lex says, "I haven't been in a couple years, but now I have a reason to go." Liana gives Lex a hug and he returns the hug. Lana says, "You ready to go?" Liana looks up to see Clark and says, "Yeah, hang on second. I'll be right back." Liana goes to Clark, but when she gets to him, he's gone. Liana then finds a white rose and softly smiles. Liana goes back to her sister and Lana says, "What was that?" Liana says, "I saw Clark, but then he disappeared." Lana says, "I guess maybe he had second thoughts about saying goodbye." Liana softly says, "Yeah, I guess." They walk into the airport and Liana's at her gate and Lana says, "So, I guess this is it?" Liana says, "Yeah. You know if you wanted to, you could come with me." Lana smiles and says, "I know, but I wanted to get a head start on college and start prepping for it." Liana says, "I know. I'm really going to miss you." Lana smiles and gives her sister a hug and says, "I'm going to miss you too, but I'll see you when you get back." Liana softly smiles and says, "Okay, bye Lana." Lana says, "Bye, Liana." They release their hug and Liana goes on her plane and leaves Smallville.
