Stumbling home, the lights and billboards that perched upon every building never looked more bright to Achilles. Their blinding colours glistening through the night sky as she battled through the wind, green scarf flapping behind her.
His words echoed through her head as she walked. Achilles hated not knowing something, though she was all for ignorance and ignorant she was when it came to learning about her own past but how Bucky Barnes came to know about the man she had been sharing a bed with for nearly four months was a mystery to her. She didn't like that. Nearly every muscle in her body itched to chase the super soldier down and to tackle him into the pavement outside the restaurant they had parted ways in, to force him to tell her what he knew yet as she braved the cold wind on the path to her home Achilles did not turn.
The smiles of the family in the toothpaste commercial that played on the building across from her train station mocked her with their happiness. She wished to pull the board from its frame, to let it shatter into a million shards of glass on the floor bellow. She wished to silence their false sense of pleasure but she carried on walking, the leather jacket sitting upon her shoulders beginning to feel restricting.
Wrestling the jacket off her shoulders she ignored the looks of the few people around her, clasping the material in her hand tightly as she came to a halt steps away from the station. Her eyes finding the billboard once more before flashing towards the night sky, her lungs heaving as her skin begin to pebble with goosebumps. She stared into the night trying to catch her breath, trying to ignore the feeling of world closing in around her.
