"Right- right over here." Hiccup gestured towards the training area. She grunted, hobbling next to him with her arm slung over his shoulder for support. He held on tight to her waist, afraid she'd buckle and fall again. Thankfully she seemed to be holding her own, at least somewhat. Alot of weight was still on his side.
Hiccup's gang were huddled around in a group, fawning over the oddly colored Changewing. The unnamed girl stopped once inside the gate, lifting her burnt right hand to her mouth. Thankfully her fingers remained bare, and she put them between her lips to let out a loud whistle.
The dragon immediately lifted his head, bounding over the teenagers to come to her aid. Unfortunately, that meant barreling right into her.
"Cheese!" She gasped, holding onto his snout with her free arm. Hiccup's tight grip sent them both to the ground, him below her. She groaned, wheezing out a sharp breath, and Cheese automatically recoiled with an attentive hull. "It's- it's okay."
"Oof, speak for yourself." Hiccup sat up, helping her do the same. She was sat between his legs, hands scratching Cheese's ocean colored scales. Hiccup sighed as he was ignored. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks for asking."
"You're welcome." The stranger sarcastically replied, shooting him a half smile from over her shoulder. Hiccup gave her an unimpressed glower.
"It's okay, Cheese..." She cooed to her dragon, who dipped his snout to help lift her up. She latched on to him, giggling as he lifted her off the ground. "Easy, easy boy..."
Hiccup watched as the hyper aggressive dragon fell into a a completely docile role, tending to the girl like she was a fledgling. Hiccup and the others had never seen a dragon do such things, not even Toothless was to attentive. She slid down his snout onto his head, then down his long neck to rest just above his wings. His green spines laid flat for her, and she laughed, fixing herself to sit right.
"Good boy," She cooed, softly. Her tone was soothing and even, like a mother to her child. Cheese gave a low chirp, bouncing in his haunches.
"Where'd you learn to train a dragon like that?" Astrid asked, awe on her face.
"I don't remember." The stranger shrugged, giving her dragon all the attention and scratches. Cheese hopped again, prancing in a circle. "Alright, alright. Tsk-tsk."
Her double tongue click sent the dragon bounding for the exit. Cheese leaped straight over Hiccup, who gasped in surprise.
"Y-you really should take it easy!" He shouted after her, watching them slip through the entrance.
"I'll be back!"
"Ugh." Hiccup dropped his head into his palm, shaking his head. "And here I thought my life was getting easier."
"What's with her?" Ruffnut scoffed, putting her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, I was totally already petting her dragon." Tuffnut agreed, copying his inters actions.
"Hiccup?" Astrid spoke up, offering her friend a hand up. Hiccup took it, prosthetic creaking. He made a mental note to oil it later that night. "How is she?"
"She doesn't- her head-" Hiccup let out a long groan. "Not good. The lightning strike did more than just burn her, she doesn't remember anything besides sailing in the storm."
"Anything?" Astrid questioned with a sad tilt. Hiccup shook his head.
"Not even her name." He sighed, throwing his hands up in an short gesture of exasperation. "And- and she's stubborn! First thing she did after waking up was demand I take her to see Cheese."
"Cheese?" Astrid recoiled at the mention of it.
"That's the Changewing's name." He answered with a knowing nod.
"Who names a dragon Cheese?"
"To be fair, I did name Toothless, toothless."

"Just go slow. Go slow..." The dark haired girl called to Cheese, who grumbled humbly in response. She gave his scales an appreciative scratch. "Good boy."
Her icicle eyes looked out over the forested area, a good bit away from the town. Berk. It didn't ring any bells. Nothing did.
She kept trying to think back, try and remember who she was and where she came from. It was like there was a layer of smoke over her memories, no amount of fanning the cloud would make it disperse. It was all blurry and coveted, there were no sounds or images. But there were some feelings. Vague ones, snuffed out and dull. The feeling of loneliness, anger and sadness, fear. The feeling of freedom as she rode on Cheese's back.
The feeling of clouds between her fingers, the canopy brushing the soles of her feet. The forbidden lust to catch a star and bring it home.
Home?
Where was home?
"Hey, there you are." Hiccup smiled as he came up on Toothless, the nightfury sending a timid green glance towards Cheese. Cheese kept his own opal eyes forward, refusing to meet the friendly dragons gaze. "Are you- are you okay?"
"About okay as I can get without knowing who I am." She answered with a tight smile, lips pressed into a thin line. Hiccup frowned sadly, but she only shrugged. "Sorry for running out, Cheese was restless and itching to get back in the air."
"Follow me." Hiccup waved her forward, taking the lead with Toothless. She clicked her tongue, signaling Cheese to fall into their slipstream.
Hiccup lead her to a small cove, a dip between the rocky terrain. He landed next to the small lake, and she followed suit. He slid from Toothless' back with a grin, watching her take the area in.
"Welcome to my spot!" He smiled, gesturing out. She watched him do so, following his hand to look out around the area. It was a nice and cozy little spot, secluded from the others. "Now, our spot. This is where I bonded with Toothless after shooting him out of the sky."
"It's beautiful." She agreed, nodding her head. A small frown pulled her lips down, eyes dull and empty. "I don't remember how I met Cheese."
"Don't uh, don't push yourself, alright?" Hiccup hobbled over to her, lifting up a hand for her to take. She sighed, allowing him to help her slide down Cheese's wing. She landed with a huff, Hiccup's hands more than ready to hold her up. They settled on her shoulders. "I'm sure your memories will return, just give yourself some time."
"Yeah." She sighed, nodding again. Hiccup deduced that she wasn't a very talkative person.
"Come sit." Hiccup stepped to the side and helped her to a rock, letting her fall into a rest with a sharp exhale.
"I feel like absolute horse shit." She grumbled, making him chuckle.
"Well, you did get struck my lighting and survive a shipwreck."
"Hmm."
Hiccup floundered, this wasn't going as planned. She was so quiet, so stuck in her head. But honestly, she just didn't know what to say. She was at a loss for what to do.
"I don't, um..." she winced, face scrunching as she picked at her wrapped arm. "I don't think I was very good at making friends, so... sorry."
"Not to worry, really." He shook his head, coming to sit next to her on the rock. He cleared his throat nervously, holding out his hand. "Let's start over. My name is Hiccup."
"Nice to meet you, Hiccup." She offered a soft smile, shaking his hand tenderly. "I don't remember my name."
"Well, we've all been calling your skipwreck."
