𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐘

THIRD PERSON POV:

Y/n's face dropped and heart ached, Tommy was going to duel Dream at Sundown which was only 5 minutes away from now. She stood on the prime path with Tubbo and Fundy, while Wilbur and Tommy talked about strategy. Dream was on the opposite side with Sapnap, George and Punz, behind his mask laid a confident smile. He was ready to shut down this little problem and take Y/n back home, Dream wasn't really paying attention to Wilbur and Tommy whispering to each other but more the worried Y/n on the sideline.

Y/n watched the wooden path with anxious eyes and a clouded mind. Tubbo did his best to try and comfort the girl, rubbing her arm and telling her his confidence in Tommy. Dream watches Tubbo carefully, the once confident smile morphs into a frown. No one should be allowed to comfort her like he should. As much as he would like to deny it, a small attachment had latched onto dreams heart for the girl. But no one needed to know that but him.

Wilbur and Tommy finished their talk and returned to the group, Tommy looked very nervous and Wilbur wore a hard look. Tubbo hugged his best friend wishing him luck and assuring him that he could do this, Fundy patted Tommy's back in support and handed him a bow. Y/n immediately hugged Tommy like it was the last time she would, Tommy was surprised at first but excepted her hug with pleasure.

She held onto him almost tearing up at the idea of him losing, Tommy noticed her sniffing and pulled away to see her face. His heart broke a bit seeing her so worried for him but he couldn't cry, he had to be strong for L'manberg, for his friends.

"Don't worry about me Y/n, I can do this!" Tommy did his best to put on a confident smile for her, Y/n looked up at the boy seeing that he was just as worried as she was but trying to be strong for them. She wiped her eyes and puffed out her chest,

"I believe in you Tommy, now go beat some ass!" It came out more timid than she wanted but gained a laugh from the boy, lifting his spirit slightly. Y/n smiled at her success and Tubbo threw his hands up in the air with a big 'YOU CAN DO IT', with everyone's moral boosted, Tommy stands on one side of the path.

"Just to be clear, if you win we grant you independence but we recognise it still as a part of the Dream Smp." Dream repeats his condition,

"Okay." Tommy replies, tension rising as the time passes.

"Please shake hands." Wilbur stands on the side reciting the basic duel rules when Dream turns to him,

"No." Dream says monotoned but anyone could see the attitude in the dotted eyes of his mask. The moment passes and Wilbur clears his throat,

"Alright stand back to back, I will count to ten paces. When I have said the word fire, you may turn around and fire apon each other. Do you both understand me?" Tommy replies with a quick yes while Dream stays quite, focusing on his target. Y/n grabbed Fundy and Tubbo's hands for not only her support but for theirs as Wilbur finished the rules. Then it begun.

"Ready!"

Both take their first step, signalling it's beginning.

They take their next two steps thinking of their futures, one of bliss or one of war.

Tommy's mind fills with the words of his friends and his family, everything they built to protect is on his shoulders in this very moment. Dream thinks of his nation and the one he is going to destroy.

Time slows,

Breathing quickens,

"9"

Hearts race,

"10, PACES FIRE!"

The first shot misses, both parties take the chance to quickly reload their arrows, Tommy misses his second shot and dives for cover. Tension as high as the sky, silence cutting through the air, Water around his ankles he goes to reload.

Dream's arrow flys through the air as time comes to a stop for Y/n.  'He's not going to make it!'

Time appears once again as Y/n's scream fill the silence,

"TOMMY MOVE!"

...

Dream's arrow fires into the middle of Tommy's forehead, he hits the ground and cheers erupt on at his death bed.
