It's been 1 month since Luffy defeated higuma the bear his grandpa came back from headquarters and took Luffy into the mountains to live with curly dadan, and ace. Luffy and ace had a rough start but it smoothed out after an incident with porchemy and bluejam pirates when ace and his friend sabo stole treasure from bluejam. Luffy was captured by porchemy cause he wanted to see if ace would help him. porchemy was interrogating Luffy but Luffy would not tell where ace and sabo hide the treasure. porchemy interrogated Luffy for hours but he did not say anything but then out of nowhere sabo and ace busted into the hideout and that's when Luffy knew they would be good friends so Luffy broke out of his bonds and used busoshoku Haki and punched porchemy in his face than Luffy, ace, and sabo made there escape to curly dadan hut. that's how their friendship started they realized that they all want to become pirates so they said that they are going to make a crew together. Luffy told ace, sabo what his true identity is and how he is going to ask his mother to come back with him. so ace and sabo told Luffy about how to ace is the son of the "king of the pirates" Gol D. roger and how sabo is a noble.

it's been 5 months since Luffy started to live with ace, sabo, and the dadan bandits. Luffy has been training ace and sabo in fighting and haki. their bond has been unbreakable they are now sworn bothers through sake. Garp finally came to spend time with his grandsons but noticed another boy but surged it off and said "it's time to start your training to become a great marine I will start training you in rokushiki techniques.

Garp left over 4 months ago but before he left Luffy asked his grandpa to call his mom and that is what Garp did. when he got on the call with his mother he asked how she was doing and if ace and sabo can come live with them in mary geoise she asked for their real identity and he knew he could not lie so he told her that sabo is a noble that ran away from home and that ace is the son of Gol D. Roger and she accepted. once Luffy got off the den den mushi he told ace, and sabo the good news and the ASL trio was ecstatic. The ASL trio mastered the rokushiki techniques but Luffy asked ace and sabo something that surprised them "do yall want a devil fruit". Luffy was working on the creation part of his atom devil fruit and he can now make devil fruits. ace and sabo said yes after they got out of their shock so Luffy asked "what do yall want" and sabo knew the devil fruit he wanted it was called the tori tori no mi model thunderbird. so Luffy focused and a dark blue fruit shaped like grapes with various bolt patterns on it and a black stem holding the grapes together. ace and sabo looked amazed and Luffy gave the fruit to sabo but he did not eat the fruit immediately he wanted to wait for ace to get his. ace had to think for a minute but knew the fruit that he wanted he asked for the mera mera no mi the flame fruit. so Luffy concentrated and a round orange fruit, composed of many flame-shaped components with swirl patterns on each one, and has a swirled stem on the top. when Luffy was done ace took the fruit and both ace and sabo shoved the fruits into their mouths and both got discussed look. and for the rest of the time in the east blue Luffy would help ace and sabo to control their fruits.
