"With what Mira?" She smiled nervously, swaying her arms back and forth.

"Um, so I was talking to Luisa and she started like singing about how she was carrying to much and stuff." I nodded, waiting for her to move on.

"Anyway in the end she told me that before my tío Bruno left, he had a vision about the magic, and I need your help finding the vision."

"And if I help you, what's in it for me?" She stopped moving for a second, whispering to herself.

"Oh! I'll help you with you and my cousin."

"Dolores? I don't have a problem with Dolores?"

"Not that cousin!" She rolled her eyes, waiting for me to comprehend.

"I don't have a problem with Antonio, me and him are best buddies." I shrugged.

"You're stupid. Camilo."

"Oh. Yeah sure I'll help you."

"Great!" She handed me a bandana and I tied it around my neck, smiling at Mirabel who looked really stressed out.

Mirabel smiled and grabbed my wrist, pulling me to Bruno's tower.

With a struggle, we opened the door, and was met with sand. A whole lot of sand. There was sand running down the entrance in an hour glass shape.

"Casita? Can you turn off the sand?" Mirabel said, feeling the falling sand in her hands.

The tiles outside the room moved making a musical note.

"You can't help in here?" The tiles moved again, singing a response. "It's okay, we'll be fine! I need to do this, for you, for Abuela." She stopped for a moment. "Maybe a little for me."

She backed up, as far as she could before running through the sand.

"AHHHHHHHH" She screamed before I heard her fall.

"Mirabel? You okay?"

"Yep! Just a bit of a drop!"

I walked through the hourglass, immediately falling down and into sand, most of it getting into my mouth.

"Ew." I spit out the sand before looking at what Mirabel was looking. "Oh. That's a lot of stairs."

She nodded before looking at the toucan who had flew down.

"Oh well atleast I have a friend." Mirabel said looking at the bird who thrilled in response.

"What am I? A cockroach?!" She laughed and started walking to the stairs. I followed her when she started singing "The Family Madrigal"

"Why don't you just fly up like the toucan did?" She asked me when were about halfway up the stairs.

"I don't trust my powers yet. Last time I used them, I was a cat for 4 years."

"I mean I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to spend four years away from someone you love." I nodded, not knowing who she meant.

"Bruno your room is the worst!" She said as we reached the top, panting. I flopped onto the ground and just stayed there.

"You've got to be kidding me." Mirabel said once she looked up. I looked up to see a gap between where we are and the rest of the room.

"Well guess we gotta go ba-" Mirabel took a stick with a rope on and threw it onto the rock above us to make some Indiana Jones type stuff.

"Mirabel don't-" but it was already too late, she had swung to the other side, screaming the whole way. She tossed me the rope and smiled at me.

I grabbed the rope and tried not to look down at the drop below me. And I swung, gripping on for dear life.

I felt someone grabbed me as I let go of the rope.

"I should've flown over Mira. This was such a bad idea."

She shrugged and looked at the toucan who was sitting on a stick in the ground.

"Alright.." she whispered and started moving toward the rest of the room, me and the toucan followed close behind, not making any noise.

We were walking along when the bird knocked over a vase scaring the absolute crap out of me and Mirabel, making Mira run into another vase, which spilled over rats, making us scream.

"This is such a creepy room.." I said looking at the the door.

"Agreed." Mirabel said before grabbing my hand and dragging me to the door and into that room.

"There's nothing in here Mirabel! You've dragged me all the way up here for absolutely nothing." Suddenly, the door closed, making me jump.

"I don't like the dark Mirabel."

"What's that glowing.." she got down into the sand and pulled out a green glowing piece of glass.

"What was in your vision Bruno.." she continued to pull out more glowing green pieces, putting them together.

"Mirabel, I don't think this is a good idea. We should go." She shook her head when she put together three pieces, the room slowly falling apart.

"Us?" She questioned right before sand started spilling all over her. "Quickly grab the glowing pieces!" So I did what she said, grabbing them and handing them to her so she could put them in her bag. The room was filling quickly with sand as we tried to get out. Me and Mirabel started pushing on the door trying to get out when one of us pressed the doorknob down, opening the door.

We both spilled out along with a bunch of sand, sending us flying. We both coughed up sand before we realized how close we were to the edge.

We both backed away and started making our way down the stairs.

We ran out of the room, trying to get away when Mirabel ran into Abuela Alma.

"Where are you two coming from in such a hurry?"

"Um-"

"What is in your hair?" Abuela looked at us both before picking some sand out of Mirabel's hair.

"My gift!" We heard Luisa shout. "I'm loosing my gift!"

Abuela frowned, going wide eyed.

"Me and Mirabel were having a talk about me carrying so much, so I tried not to carry so much, but I realized it was putting me behind so I was picking up all the donkeys, and when I went to put the donkeys in the barn..." She paused, her lip quivering. "They were heavy!" She started sobbing, running to her room.

"What did you say to her?!"

"Uh nothing-" the church bells rang and Abuela looked out the window.

"I have to go get the Guzmáns for Isabela's engagement, don't talk to Luisa until I can, tonight must go perfectly." She fixed her earring and left.

Me and Mirabel turned to each other both knowing that we both would be in so much trouble if we were caught.
