the slapshot.
This boy can't be serious.
"Uhm, I'll let you know my decision in the morning." Kathleen smiles awkwardly. He smiles back, widely. "Cool, sleep well Kat!"
Kathleen turned out her light, and went to lay back in bed. She sat there, weighing out her options. Yeah, she has been in love with Evan Morrow ever since she can remember, but why did they have to hide their relationship from Sofi? Were him and Sofi also a thing? No, Evan isn't that evil.
Kathleen didn't let her thoughts get the best of her, and she went to bed. She woke up the next morning, and had one text message.
Logan
Hey, wanna come over today? She read the message over and over again. Logan hasn't really talked to her since the movie theater, but she was glad he was willing to hangout.
Kat
Sure, what time? They both decided on one p.m. Evan and Koob seemed to have left the Ganz's house early this morning, because when Kathleen went down stairs only Nick was there.
"Hey, I'm going over to Logan's today." Kathleen told Nick as he was eating cereal, and scrolling through his phone. "Okay."
Kathleen smiled, and was going to head up stairs to get ready to go over when Nick stops her. "Hey Kat?"
Kathleen swings around the stairs to get in view of Nick. "Yes, Nick?"
"What's going on with you and Evan?" Kathleen's heart dropped, how did he know? She coughed In attempt to hold back her blush. "Nothing."
"Okay, good. Just stay away from him, okay? He's my best friend." Nick tells her as he eyeballs ber. Kathleen. Kathleen nods as she runs upstairs to get ready to go to Logan's. She thinks about the weird interaction she had with Nick downstairs. Did Evan let something slip?
One p.m. came around, and Kathleen headed over to Logan's house. It seemed as if he had been waiting for her for hours, because she didn't even have time to knock before he opened the door.
"Hey Kat." He smiled and let her in. "Logan," she greeted. Him back as she took off her coat, and hanged it on the coat hanger.
He took her upstairs to his room where they played on his ps4 for awhile before he asked her the question she had even dreading.
"Can I ask you something, Kat?" Logan looks over at her as he puts down her controller. Kathleen knew where this was going. She saw the hurt in his face, and she knew, he knew.
"Is there something going on between you and Evan, be honest." He looked at her. Kathleen froze up. "I-."
"I knew it." He looked down as if he was about to cry. "Logan there isn't-,"
"Don't lie Kat, I saw Evan kiss you that night at the movies! Last night, at Nick's, don't act like you didn't get Nick to ask him to come over so you two can get it on, like the slut you are." Logan spoke harshly, and Kathleen froze up. Now she was the one who looked like she was about to cry.
"Well," she sniffled as she wiped her eyes, "if that's what you think of me, Logan LaRue, just don't talk to me at all!" Kathleen gets up as she heads towards his door.
"Good, I won't talk to you." He spat, and Kathleen left the house. She grabbed her coat, and walked across to the Ganz. She didn't want to speak to anyone, she just wanted to lie down and fall asleep. That's exactly what she did.
"Kat, you coming to practice?" Nick woke her up. He could tell she had been crying by the tears stained cheeks she had. "No."
"Oh, okay." Nick didn't question, he just left her. To wallow in her feelings. A couple of hours had to have gone by, and she could feel her phone ding every so often, but she didn't look at it. That night was the night of the Hockey Moms tournament, so it was only Kathleen home.
Kathleen finally decided instead of crying in bed, she got up, and headed to the Duck ice stadium. She joined Gordon Bombay in the box as he coached the moms.
"You showed up?" He questioned as he watched the small girl appear next to him. "Nick told me you didn't want to come."
"I didn't at first, but I've got to support the moms of my team." Kathleen smiled at the coach. The both of them started cheering as the moms compete.
Alex Morrow ended up beating Stephanie in the slap shot, but It was caught on video that Alex crossed the line barely. Kathleen looked up at the seats at the team groaned. None of them had seen her, thankfully. She looked up at Sofi, and caught her sad expression.
"If our team had won her parents would let her join us," Bombay commented as he saw Kathleen stare. "I know you don't like her, but she would've been a great asset to the team, and from what I have heard, it seems like you've already got the thing she wants."
Yeah, but she wouldn't know either way, Kathleen thought. Why wasn't she happy about Evan wanting to be together with her? She wanted him so bad, but she had a feeling he still wanted Sofi.
"It also seems the blonde one has his eyes on you too." Kathleen looked back up to see Logan staring down at her. He looked, upset. Kathleen saw a glimpse of Evan talking to Sofi. "Want me to take you home? There is no need for you to be walking home alone in the dark?"
"Sure, Coach Bombay." Kathleen smiled as she walked out with the man to his truck. He drove her to the Ganz's house. "Now, go back up in your room, and act like you were never there."
Kathleen giggled, and nodded as she closed the truck door. She walked back up into her room, and crawled back into bed.
